Hey lads! How's everyone and their rides? I haven't a CB1KR but I hope to get one soon within the next half a year! I've been following this thread closely and it's provided useful info on this beauty of a bike.

Anyways, I saw a black (decorated with some red) CB1KR with a yellow number plate on the PIE yesterday afternoon. I rode past it on the right and didn't even realise it was a CB1KR til I was passing it! I guess the bike looks so compact I thought it was some obscure 600cc bike!

Lol.. Was wondering if the bro who owns that bike comes on here.. :)

Also, I have a question. I'd be interested to break in my engine hard. I read that some workshops offer the hard breaking in service using their dynos. I found 2 w/shops to provide the service, namely HKL and Racewerks. I was wondering if any bros have any input on which of these 2 workshops do a more precise/careful/thorough (and also more reliable) job of breaking-in engines..

Any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance!! :)

Hi bro, gd to hear u're joining the CB1KR family soon! I did my hard break in @ Racewerkz. Better or more precise, I can't comment much cos unless I've been to both.... I was recommended Racewerkz cos ppl feedback dat HKL handles bikes very roughly...

That was my 1st experience wit Racewerkz n I've been going back ever since... Be it oil change, some add-ons or any queries... IMHO, they R a bunch of fun-loving n friendly guys who offers a gd piece of advise whenever u nid it... So far still so gd...

Juz now a fellow rider i met on the road commented that my bike looks compact despite being a 1000cc. that's what i like about this bike, not too big on the size but powerful enough to put a grin everytime i open throttle fast.. lol

haha,2B bike, this explains why sometimes i got 2b (2 strokes especially) bikes trying to play punk thinking they can 'makan' us at the traffic lights,

all we need to do is a twist on the throttle and goodbye to those ignorant riders.

Thanks for sharing your experience bro! I did go down to Racewerkz the same day I posed that question and the guy talked to me at great length, advising me and sharing tips on bike care and hard-breaking in so I had a good impression of RW. Later on I walked down the stretch and managed to witness a bike being tuned 'live' at HKL's dyno room and so wanted to know which is preferred by most bikers.

Been seeing a little bit more of the CB1KR on the road lately and I get damn anxious to get my ride. The S4 I currently ride is ever so reliable and I will be sorry to see it go but the allure of the CB1KR is just too strong.. :p

Bro after wad I've gathered these mths, the stock CB1k doesn't really requires much tuning as its PGM-FI is doing a pretty gd job. Although the original mapping is running a bit rich on fuel but after yr bike starts running on fully syn EO, it'll clock ard 220km (at least) b4 the display starts blinking...

Most guys (including other countries) they will change to a full sys or jus the end can followed by PC5 to tune the new set up... Averagely with a full sys n PC5 tuning they will see abt 10 extra ponies (+/-) compared to the stock... So it depends on oneself...

I've been thru the same stage of feeling reluctant to let go of my s4 while waiting for the new bike but the moment u sit on the beast n twist the throttle, dat kindda feeling will jus disappears with the wind almost immediately.... Definitely worth it bro.

So when u'll be getting yr bike? Ready stock in SG or 3mths wait?

Jus a follow up for fellow CB1K bros planning to installed Scott Oiler n with the reservoir under the seat.

Past wks I've been monitoring mine n noticed lotsa air bubbles along the tube. Chked with my CBR1k friend n was told its normal as the reservoir is lying quite flat inside the compartment so we gotta top up more frequently so the lub actually covers the extractor.

I've since removed my tools n shifted the reservoir to take over its place. its deeper there so I can give it more elevation n after dat the air bubbles R much lesser throughout the tubes.

My recommendation is dat if u can go without the tools, ask the mechanic to place it there upon installation. Otherwise its a bit harder to shift its location after the breathing tube, air n lub tubes R fixed. (might be too short to shift it if allowance wasn't given)

Hope this helps... :)

Will the air bubble cause any stoppage of lube supply to the chain? what settings u put the scottoiler at?4,5?

After reading thru the manual again, I realised that they had actually incorporated a rotating filter inside that will look for oil when the reservoir is horizontal.. In fact with that filter, the problem shouldn't arise at all...

I've put mine on 7-8 o'clock pos to ensure constant flow for a start n slowly tuning it down till I get the rite flow... Meaning not too much oil n not too much bubbles.. Mine is at near 6 nw (take note dat there's no numberings on the dial anymore).

It would not stop the flow totally but might cause insufficient lube to yr chain..

is topping up the lube oil easily accessible bcoz the space you put the reservior is quite cramp?

Hopefully it won't cause a mess inside the underseat compartment..
