Hi,

I have a few questions and hope the expert here can advise me:

1. I have a 2 digits number plate on a honda wave, if I want to sell it w/o the bike what is the process? (total cost $)

2. What is I decided to buy a second hand bike and keep the number for that second hand bike, what is the process (total cost $)

3. back to number 1. if I sell the number plate how can I get a new plate for the Honda wave? (total cost $)

Thanks guys!

I'm no expert in this and has not done it before but almost...

I know total cost for an old number plate to be transferred to an OTR already bike will cost you around $1300...

Steps to do a proper KNNBCCB with middle finger.

1. Bow down slightly, looking intensely at objective

2. Like a raging bull, hop and jog slowly towards objective

3. Take your left palm and slap it hard on the right mid-arm with a SLAP!

4. With charisma, raise right arm, whilst showing middle finger (with left palm trapped in bend right arm)

5. Shout! KNNBCCB

from what i know, both bikes have to be under your name to transfer the number plate over... so if you're selling the plate to someone else, you will have to transfer your bike under his name then he can transfer the number over

it cost $1300 to transfer the number over to an old bike... i can't remember if its $100 or $300 to transfer to a brand new unregistered bike

i'm not too sure how to go about registering a new number for your current bike after selling the number away though... maybe someone else can enlighten us

From what I know, when you transfer out the number plate from your current bike to another bike, a new number will automatically assigned to your current bike...

Is it free to be assinged a new number?

I think it will be easier if i just sell the number with the bike...

OK just called LTA

To transfer/swap number between 2 bikes under the same name

get this... each bike need to pay $1300, that's would be $2600!!! (ridiculous!!!)

Minimum need to pay $1300, by transferring the nice number to another bike and ask for a new random number from LTA FOC.

To assign the number to a new bike, you need to pay $1300, and after successfully transferred over LTA will refund $1200. The old bike will be automatically assigned with a random number FOC. Both new bike and old bike must be under the same name. total cost is only $100.

Usually the process is tedious.if i'm not wrong you have to transfer ownership of bike to the seller for him to retain the number on his bike.Afterwhich the previous number plate or if in the case of new bike. Those plate will auto tranfer to the honda wave. The cost to transfer is indeed $1300 for retaining the number on old bike.

Hi Wes,I don't think there will be $1300 for tranferring and refund case for new bikes.Because as in case of retaining number plate for "New Car".It is only a straight forward of $100 fee charge.Dont think LTA will have diuble standard for bikes & cars.

If I can remember correctly, the permutations ...lol...should be as follows:-

old bike to old bike minimum $2600.

old bike to newly registered (retain number) :$100

Scrap current bike and transfer to another old bike: $1300

anyway, i miss wildcard.

Hi All,

I just brought a bike which I signed an agreement with a buyer to retain the number on the bike.

If I need to transfer the number to a bike whether old or new. Do I need to cancel road tax and insurance. And reapply again to the new numeber plate?

How much will it cost or they can auto transfer the cost. According to bike it will be quite a hassle as I need cancel many like car park,rd tax and insurance then reapply again....

Ask him to pay anything I have cancel and top up any cost that i need to reapply for new rd tax and insurance,he seem to be redundant to do so.

Ask him to buy back the bike as the cost I have brought from him. Also redundant to do so....

Was in a hurry to buy bike so kinda get into tricky situation.

Any case I seem to be lugi...Any advices..thanks

Do you mean that you bought a bike with a nice number and the transacted price does include the plate number?

anyway, i miss wildcard.

The transacted does not included the nice number that y an agreement was made to protect both parties interests. But somehow is was quite a hassle to do that. For my side I need to cancel many things if there is a plate transfer.

And need to reapply many things. Like insurance, making of number plate,rs tax, reapply of car park etc....

I think you do not have to lose sleep over this. The "owner" is the one who is going to worry. Once the transfer is done, you became the lawful owner of plate and bike. The value of a number plate is very subjective, for e.g it may be worth thousands n thousands of $ to the "owner" but for others it is jus a number. I have not seen your Pte Agreement but I think basically your responsibility is just to let him have an option to take back the plate when u want to sell the bike in e future . The expenses of transfer sholuld not be borne by you.

Yes that is right. If the bike is real old, you can scrap it and you can hold on to the plate up to a year.

Another way for wavilera is to transfer the bike to his name. Sell the bike to original owner's buyer, Wavilera pays $1,300 for new no. to be registered to the bike. When new ride arrives (within 1yr) registered nice no. to the new bike and LTA will refund the 1.2k to wavilera. The one year can be extended by LTA based on a case by case basis.

anyway, i miss wildcard.
