Yes, this is the original purpose, BUT since bike shops in sillypore does not practise refund of interest for oustandstanding amount, what is there to compensate?

 

Therefore i believe the early settlement charge is a hoax unless u see it written physically in your hire purchase agreement with the bike shop.

 

ya lo..now im nt asking for refund of my interest leh..they keep all the interest..i juz wan to clear my loan wif them..juz write in to them ytd..asking them to send mi a duplicate copy of my H/P agreement..

 

if they try to do stun by not sending me the agreement..

this, very much depends on the loan paper the buyer signed. i'ld have to say many of us (including myself) sometimes sign papers without reading the fine prints. even if read n found something unfavourable, there is not much we could do... take it or leave it.

unlike in some western countries, there is no consumer protection laws in sillypore

 

although buyers can contest the contract terms in court, the time n cost of engaging lawyers overshadow the benefits or savings... so pp just pay and sua sua ki lor

You will find it in the part that lists all the details about the goods being financed by hire purchase, under "Early Settlement Fees".

They only have the obligation to give you the written statement of the details of the proposed hire-purchase, and explain only if you ask.

I may be wrong as I am not familiar with the law here in Singapore but in Australia or NZ the original document is the only legal standing because copies can be altered in many ways so even if you dont have your copy of the original there copy only has legal standing if other original documents made out at a similar time state similar things, it is in your best interest to find your copy of the original to make things easier for you and to make copies of it so that unscrupulous persons dont destroy it,like I say I may be wrong but its better to be safe than sorry

I heard from my bikeshop only those old contracts are entitled to interest rebate... Since 2005, all hire purchase for motorbike dun ve interest rebate but early settlement fee

 

This is veri common bro...

 

 

Not true. I bought a bike from the very big bike shop M*H and the contract stated there's a interest rebate AND early settlement fee. Lucky the interest rebate is more than the early settlement fee...hahaha.

1100 but the are kind enough to close it at 800.

ytd nite i found 1 letter send from shop S..can it be use to "fight" the early settlement fee??

 

The letter write this:

Total agreement loan = $xxxx

Total payment made = $xxxx

Total balance on agreement = $xxxx

 

can that statement be use to "fight" the early settlement feE?

Be aware that if this is not the original or a copy of the original that can be verified as having your signature on it, it has dubious legal standing. I wouldn't do anything without sighting the original and if they cannot produce it I would seek legal advice unless you have $400 to give away. As I have said earlier copies can be altered.
