Guys is 14t 45t, 525 pitch recommended for 400 version? Talking about sprocket teeth

Sent from Blackberry Smartphones®

My question to you is, why u wanna change the sprocket tooth count and the chain pitch?

If i remember correctly, our sprocket count is 16t front and 47t rear?

What added benefit do u intend to gain by changing?

Better pick up, higher top speed, better durability cos of the higher chain?

Bear in mind that changing the sprocket teeth will affect your speedometer reading and consequently, your odometer reading as well.

There is an gadget called the Speedohealer to correct your speedometer if you are are really keen on this.

Like what bro EJ mentioned above, a 525 set is heavy and reportedly cause a heavy dragging feeling.

So my recommendation is, unless u know what your desired outcome based on your application is, just stick to stock.

Mmm, stock GSR 400 is 14/47T while the GSR 600 is 17/46T. Yep, go for 520 chain. The 525 is for GSR 600.

Oh, one more thing. Increasing the front sprocket by 1 will correct your speedometer error. Stock setting have error of +7%.

Think mine now is at least 8% or 9% error since my rear sprocket increased by 1!

That is coright. When I was on the 525 14/45, I didn't get much of a difference in km/l, in fact I think I'm better off with stock gearings as it is easier to move off. As for top end, I didn't have the balls to test it out.

Talking about speedohealer, I had that on my bike. Only realized that I forgot to dekit it when I traded the bike in. Anyway how's my 2 carbon cans doing? Still screaming their lungs out? Hehe

Just changed to 14t driven front and 45t supersprox rear, well I stayed at 520 in the end, overall ridding experience doesn't have any drastic changes, was looking to increase 15t for the front but the shop no stock...

And yup, DIY location can wash bike? Need 20cent? Haha

What?! how can u forget to de-kit? Haha! i think your GSR traded hands again already. Saw the bike up in the garage sales section a few months back.

Your carbon cans are doing great. Still screaming like nobody's business if i'm feeling rebellious and naughty. Haha. Now seeing more and more LTA on the road, need to silence them unless i'm crossing the border.

Bro Lex's yishun location dun have place to wash bike unfortunately. its just under the void deck, not a multi storey carpark.

For myself it's not being lazy. I do enjoy washing/working on the bike. My 1 year old daughter seldom sleeps during the day now so pre-occupied with her already. I can only work on the bike when she sleeps, probably for about an hour or so. That's why I leave the bike washing to pump stations or nature nowadays.

Anyway in Singapore, the only place that I know of is the esso pump station at yishun ave 9. But it's been awhile since I dropped by for a wash though. Not sure if they still accept bikes.

Anyway for the DIY session, feel like trying to polish the headers, found a cheap solution for it and saw wonders on my friends bike, using autosol and that green sandpaper.

As for bike washing, I've never let shops or petrol stations wash for me, 100% wash by myself and my girlfriend :p

Becareful wen using Autosol, it might 'eats' into the metal. As for sandpaper, its not because use sandpaper only....Got technique one heheh. Will need a few grit of sandpapers from rough to very fine to make the finish products like below.

The finished result.

If really wan mirror finish, need to have the following:-

- Sandpaper 400, 600, 800, 2000 (All sanding muz be done wet)

- Rubbing Compound

- Good Metal Polish

- Sealer to seal in the mirror effect.

- It does help to have polishing machine.

- And many many hours of free time.

Mine shortcut, if really wan super duper mirror finish then muz take out headers and do in home hahhaha

Guys. recommended to tune the idling every 1-2mths by ah chong. anyway yesterday i went to groom my bike at SixNine ultimateDetailing at 5 commonwealth lane Lot 3 (old motor mart). the service and skill was very good. my chain and sproket was black, dirty and full of oil stuff on it. after collecting bk my bike i realise my chain was bk to original gold color and the sproket was bk to original silver color. i was pretty amaze by their skill. anyway if u guys are keen, faster head down to sign for the package as they are shifting to thomson by sept or oct and there will be a slight increase on the price due to higher rental. anyway i sign up the 2+1 full grooming at $125. contact person is joel- 90666411.

Not dat im a lazy guy but due to work ot n life, its just kinda hard to squeeze dat tyme to wash my ride.. :)

Yeah, not Multistory carpark at my place. Or is it possible for somebody with access to Multistory carpark to organize? In the meantime, I'll try to look for one near my area.

Razi, that looks good enough! The tips are great too!

Anslem, thanks for the information. The package sounds expensive! I would rather DIY washing and polishing!

A few days back I bought a OWS 610 universal cleaner and a Motul road C2 chain lube,

The cleaner works wonder!! Spray directly onto a brush with thick grease and it instantly drop off without scrubbing or anything!

As for the motul chain lube, first time using it and realize it leaves a sticky type of residue.. Don't have a good impression for sticky types of lube all along...

The grooming package is a little on the expensive side.. $125 is a lot of money! Anyway my bike also don't need to polish already. Probably only

the rims might need some polishing. :) other than that it's just wash and dry off.
