I am thinking of doing some mod but i most likely need to remove the LED light at rear of bike which illuminates the licence plate ...... can't find anything on the LTA site which provides a clarification on this . Is this illegal ?

Thanks ..... i noticed that not all bikes got this rear LED lights ... some merely

have a reflector only .... i suppose LTA is more concerned with the licence plates than a light illuminating it ..... shall check with them tomorrow .

Spoke to a Mr Nor from the LTA Engineering Unit . Was told it is ILLEGAL to

remove the LED light or the reflector illuminating the licence plate .

Some manufacturers have special in built bulbs to illuminate the licence plate - not supposed to remove them .....

However if require black and white , must write in or e-mail to their feedback unit .......

even bikes without the LED light or the reflector illuminating the licence plate, it is actually integrated in the taillight. eg, my spark uses the tail light to shine as the casing has light coming out, as for my s4, ther is a small box like ting that holds the bulb to shine.

therefore, without plate light is illegal.

hope it helps.

Oviously if you go and ask the authority whether it is illegal or not to do certain things, they will sure say it is illegal on the safe side, to play safe!!

Go ahead and remove the plate light, I don't think the TP will stop you.
