From what I see, almost every private buses have no stop lights (both sides). Some only one. I always siam them when one is in front of me. Sometimes no choice but to follow behind and have to be extra careful becos donno when they are stopping as no stop lights. Can I find out from you all how frequent do you see private buses without stop lights? I may want to write to TP to ask them to crack down on these idiots if what I observe is true.

Thank you.

Perhaps you ride in an area with a lot of private buses. I for one have few such encounters. Buses and heavy vehicles do block our line of sight to begin with, so regardless of whether they have functional brake lights I try not to stay behind them. I believe they are subject to the same scrutinity by LTA for vehicle inspection, so there is no reason to single them out for extra checks. The same could be argued against many 2B 2 Stroke bikes with owners often modding the exhaust to irritate other road users.

Heavy vehicles without functional brake lights at a common sight on the NSH, as with Kups without brake lights. There are no lights on the NSH and everyone travels above 100. Honestly, I feel that brake lights or no brake lights, it isn't such a big issue in Singapore considering how brightly lit the roads are. If you are keeping your safety distance and alert, u should be reasonably effective at noticing deceleration without brake lights.

Errant road users who do not care about safety and inspect their vehicles deserve to be punished, and I believe they will be in due course, by I can't agree with singling out private buses for extra checks.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

I beg to differ dude, my family owns 2 private buses and both are kept in tip top condition.Both with working tail lights and all.Hahah its just up to companies and their drivers to maintain the vehicle's lighting.Indeed its dangerous as I myself as a biker have noticed some of this.Its good not to tailgate or depend on other's, depend too much and you may have to depend on life support in hospital.

Agreed. Unfair at singling out just private buses. Other motorists are guilty of it as well.

On a side note, no offence to the TS, but do we Singaporeans need to be so anal about everything? Complain about private buses, taxis and their notorious driving, unprotected foreign workers packed in the back of a pick-up truck, school buses with no seatbelts, big lorries transporting cargo driving at high speed it just goes on and on. :rolleyes:

Current Rides:

FEB 07 -> NOV 08 [CBR 150]

AUG 08 -> AUG 12 [XJR400]

AUG 12 -> ??? [DUCATI MONSTER 696]
