AAR:

0320:

Traffic at SGcustoms/Woodlands checkpoint/Bike section was a Code Amber. Not to bad a jam but still quite a number of Malaysian bikes. Probably their shift just over. Cleared customs by 4am.

0410:

Fed our bikes with Mobil/Esso at a rate of $2.70/litre(usual was 1.92), fed our bodies with RedBull and then Special Guest Appearance come. Glad he made it on time.

0425:

Set off from Mobil and made our way to Route 3 of the ol' highway. After JB Town, the roads begin to turn pitch dark making our travelling speed to a low 80-90km/h(usually daytime can go 100-120). The busa's high beam doesn't help much cos the angle isn't that great.

We got separated into three grps, me and huat, spy(lone ranger) and chao, ss and zai(sweeper). Somewhere in the 40km mark through our journey there was a road block and I was already thinking of my RM50 flying away liao(dunnoe if the std rate has been affected on the petrol inflation :D ) but fortunately for me and huat, the Encik just wave for us to move on.

So along we went going through deadly sharp bends in the darkness of the morning air, constantly switching my high beam ON/OFF whenever there was an oncoming vehicle. Experienced some irrational msian drivers who kept on high beaming us from behind and stay quite close too..

0530:

On the 90km mark on my trip meter, finally came to a halt at the ol' highway RnR. Thought could have refreshments but alas, it was pitch black in there too. GUess the old ones only operate during the day given the number of vehicles on the ol'highway is much lesser than the new NSH.

So there we were Huat and I waited for the other four bikes to join us in the pitch dark RnR..

0540:

Once the lot regrouped again, we set off for another 40km of dark and dwindling roads.

0610:

At last we have reached Mersing town! The town was very different in the early wee hrs. Not much busy vehicles as in the daytime when I went there twice previously. As some of them took photos at the town's roundabout, me and chao went to hunt for kopi mixture to be made and sipped while watching the sunrise. (I brought the ol' Mess tin and solid fuel cos the AL wanted to make coffee and sip while watching sunrise, typical AL activity.. )

Failed to find the 3 in 1 packets, we made do with Nescafe canned coffee and Milo too.

0620:

Saw the sky turned a bit blue, hurried the guys and we moved on to find a good spot to park out bikes and let the AL make coffee and hot milo for us.

We found a ramp that leads us to the seaside and its cemented so our bikes can stand and watch the sunrise too. There was a group of Msian kups lazing and sleeping around that area and they were startled when we arrived. Really must put the blame on the Delta, GPR, Yoshi and 2Yoshis for this one.. :nono:

Once parked, out came the mess tin, solid fuel, canned drinks and yes.. Home made Roti John that I made the nite previously. Well for one thing, the beach there certainly has no toilet within walking distance so some of us had to hold, even contemplating on releasing it into the sea..

0700:

The sun was up. But sadly, it was too cloudy and didn't manage to see the sun.. sigh.. Well, with a nice hot AL made coffee and milo and light roti john for snacks and wats more a great company, it was worth the ride..

0815:

Made our way back to town to have breakfast. The food was disappointing though.

0915:

So after breakfast, SS and Huat broke away from the main body to head for SG as they had prior plans. Thanks for the company even though only for the morning part nevertheless! :thumb:

The main body made our way to Kota Tinggi and it was a mind blowing 90km instead of my expected 50km. Haha.. sorry spy.. Well, you guys won't wanna hear abt the Kota Tinggi part.. Many of you had made it there. So I shall save my words for now and give a toast for the great pleasurable company, taking the effort to wake up in the wee hrs to ride with me and fulfilling my long time dream to...

RIDE TO THE SUNRISE..

ps: all camermen/women, pics pls.. thank you!

Make it a habit to check your passport for stamp bro.. Knn the msian custom!!.. Next time if i happen to catch them not stamping on my passport, I will raise hell with their Customs officials..

They never stamp our passport, if we kena caught, we salah.. But what if WE catch them not stamping our passports?.. any punishments for them based on negligence?

ps: all camermen/women, pics pls.. thank you!

Thanks for organizing the Sunrise trip, Manzz. Superb detailed-write up on the trip. Yeah - it was different riding the same trunk-road at nite compared to the day.

Thanks to Zai for showing SS and I the roads with your HID beam. (and thanks to Spy who is supposed to provide light enough for SS and I to see at the front, end up showing-off your tail light for us to see :faint: )

Nothing's like a hot cuppa on hand in the cold of the morning while watching the morning breaking the dawn.

It rained at Kota Tinggi too which provided us the excuse to catch a nap. But we didn't miss the falls - Zai, Nurule, Manz and I went there about 4pm to enjoy a refreshing natural "massage" by the running waters. SHIOK!!

The nice bird-dinner at Perling compensated the distastful b/f we had that morning. Wonderful day trip!!!

Morning Eveyone! :)

Ride to the Sunrise..

ps: all camermen/women, pics pls.. thank you!

The ride was fun..My first time riding in a pitch-dark road for more than 100km..plus the cool breezing night and bumpy-humpy,uneven,dwindling,winding road...Sometimes it gets eerie when u cant see anything on ur left nor right and not even ur back...

The breakfast was great although it is simple, the coffee/milo and home-made roti john..its sooo :hungry:  ..it is much better than having the breakfast at the kopitiam..

Anyway, UPZ for e organiser and the sunrise hunters! :thumb:

I'll upload e pics tonite..

thanks all for riding together with me, and huat for accompanying me back to jb customs to chop passport! haha...

HID was worth for that kind of road..no need to high beam except when it's kinda foggy-smokey, the HID wouldn't perform well. At first, I thought of overtaking SS & chao to lit up the road but then, if anything happen, then i would be blame coz i'm e last man..anyway, sorry if it blinds any of u esp SS

I think my HID oso irritate the oncoming vehicles, some of them high-beam at me back sia :sian:

I thought a thought. But the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I thought. If the thought I thought I thought had been the thought I thought, I wouldn't have thought so much.

I think my HID oso irritate the oncoming vehicles, some of them high-beam at me back sia :sian:

haha... your HID was fine actually, good level adjustment, but i think sometimes you turn on high beam? that's when i get blinded! hahaha... and yah, some of irritating drivers always switch on their high beam like 10m away from me! basket....

but seriously, i think HID is a good investment for touring

I think that is when my HID doesnt seem to shine bright enough.. :cheeky:

I thought a thought. But the thought I thought wasn't the thought I thought I thought. If the thought I thought I thought had been the thought I thought, I wouldn't have thought so much.
