Just visited First Motor in the morning, and indeed Mr Lim quoted 1.8K( the same red/ white FM 2293 hornet in the pic in another post ), but he wil include a major restoration of the bike, which means full tip top servicing from bolts to paintwork( new clear coat after polish off old )... will include used racing tyres if confirmed which think it`s very worth the penny of this good old skool bike. If take and go I think he will let go around 1.4K bah... just forget to chk hw many years COE left( any idea bro Cerberus ), and i`m considering this bike if now my little princess allow me to ride again!:cheeky:

It seems like a good buy....

Be mindfull spareparts are more expensive(esp carbs and engine which are Italian).

COE is till around April-May 2013

Hi Megaswaran,

Needs to clarify with you whether is all the 1993-1994 registered bikes are full powered Italy imports? Have done some research as according to frame nos. ZDCJC22800****( the above bike ), these were French restricted Imports, as the letter "8" represents letter "B".Therefore, all chassis nos. for French reads ZDCJC22B****. Your bike frame also have the same number too!

No kyosho, ours are english models but exported....The only restriction is in the plomb at the exhaust.....

The electrics are the full powered CDI(CI626) and full powered RC valve controller(TV78). Which is the same as the Italian specs.

I have the whole history and specifications even for the Japan model.:thumb:

If that is true, then it will be great. De-restrict only the pipe will be much simpler then. Thks for clarifications!

btw, coe for that bike expires at oct 2012.

The restriction has been verified and is true....

I think one of the owners renewed the COE way ahead of expiry thats why early....If not should be around the time of mine.

I remember the next block down the road along first motor has another gold/ brown( original scheme ) hornet onths earlier, but seen it and condition very chui... first motor one very good!

Btw, also saw a maybe year 1994-1995 mito evo( red and metallic gray original scheme, and exterior condition seems tip-top! ) at the top rack inside first motor... but pity as Mr lim said that bike might need to be scrap or export, as had been laid up almost 3 years liao, and owner mia overseas and un-contactable also!

As for the actual maintenance and FC of hornets, there`s only the one can tell you here... and for good mechanic, think best place should be first motor bah! But if talking about the running maintenance of the older NS 125R, I may be able to help you abit as I once rode it, and hated it! It may sounded off topic, but since it`s still having the same DNA of the 125 Hornets, I think no one will object bah!:cheeky:

The NS 125R i`m talking about is also the italia made( if i`m correct ), fully faired with rectangular front lights, and 17" front, 18" rear wheels. This bike may looked slightly bigger than the hornet due to it`s more rounded fat fairing, and also slightly longer wheelbase maybe, and thats why it caught my eyes for it`s size of a class 2B bike, and traded it with my LC kia with this chop shop ABBA motor( if anyone remembers this shop, and I think closed down liaoz ).

Running maintenance of this bike is ok as if maintenaning the LC yamaha( normal 2T oil can liao ). FC cannot remember, as that time petrol( leaded )is cheap so never bother. But the worst thing is I actually traded a lemon, and due to the italian fashion, the bike breaks down very frequently... from electrics, dynamo to pistons jams... funny thing is this bike can do only max 120++ km/hr max, and piston also jams!!!!! And also, in order to access the underseat compartments, you need to undo 2 bolts on each side of the seat... wondering what`s that designer( a moron maybe ) of this bike was thinking, and I`ve never seen a bike without a key mechanism for removing the seat before!!!

But nevertheless, this bike is quite a pleasure to ride at cruising speed( she cant run anyways ) as she`s huge and stable, and definitely felt different with the naked yamaha LC( but much faster ). But due to all the problems I`ve had with her, had no choice but traded away with my next faired TZR 125 from extreme motor. I can still remember after a few months when I went back for servicing my TZ, that boss ah Lian sweared at me for trading the lemon to him... hahaha, I just said "hey, it`s plain business mah!" .

Maintenance is a very debatable issue.

It depends on your use which results in the rate of wear and tear.

From my experience, it gives about 28km/l when you ride it casually by not being aggressive at the throttle. And keeping it to gear 6 at around 7k RPm also helps conserve the petrol utility.

Other things like 2T depends on the adjustment of the pump which is located to the right handside.

Brake pads and tyre are based on the composites and type of soft/hard compounds respectively.

Parts support is quite slim but I have a direct link to get them from Honda Japan.

Any parts that you require, I will look it up in my parts book, send the quotation forth and buy them.Minus all the middle man who are just profit minded. This is how I do it to get all my parts.

Yup the Honda NS 125F( The single boxy head light version).

Very terrible as the oil pump use not be keihin....

The NSR 125 had been re-engineered from all the consumer complaints

Which 2B bike gives you a chain deraileur?(The component that holds the chain from slack)

The NSR 125 oem pump is keihin.....

So far I never had piston jams.

NSR can ride with high RPMS very long.....

The top speed is way higher. At stock you can do about 160km/h @ 9.5k RPM.

I rekon that! If you were riding in the early 90`s then, you`ll see lots of 2 strokes monsters, like the yamaha RD 350/ 500, Honda`s NS400 and the suzuki`s RGV400 Walter Wolf... all either have 3-4 screaming exhaust pipes!!! I think now only left the RD or LC 350 2 strokers nia.

Keihin, Mikuni ,Walbro and Del orto are some of the popular and credible brands

of carburetors, fuel pumps and oil pumps etc.

The jamming of a piston is due to lack of lubrication on the skirts of the piston along the rings. Bad oil pumps or blocked hoses to the carb. always cause jams.
