  3. In every sports, there are helpful souls out there who are willing to share. Its best to take it with a pinch of salt, even if he is a well-qualified trainer with loads of experiences and trophies. For every individual is different and its up to the individual to modify/tune the info to suit his/her styles. Having said that, we should not discourage the opportunities to share/guide but to encourage it. We should do what is necessary to grow the sport, not suppress it. Already the motorcycling fraternity is so small. To take actions that suppresses the sport will only reduce the sport to Ground Zero. Its best for everyone to work together to grow the sport, so we can enjoy it more; then to select websites and track days to minimise the other group.
  4. there is a shop at paya ubi specialising in BMW and TOurers. They carry the smart charger type. call Chan at 9820 9401. its also $90 over,
  5. i am looking for a old NINJA 600 (1985s) or Elimnators. If you know of anyone selling, please PM me. THanks,
  6. can someone tell me which company was trying to sell the car?
  7. Some XRs use 32hole hub. KTM is usually 36 hole-hub. So you will have to check to be sure.
  8. It was a really fun day.... a little rain... cool weather. had the chance to try out my bike when the track was a little wet and then dry. Hope to see more motards the next time round.
  9. speak to wilson of ideal... he can certainly help.
  10. keyboard sucks. blackberry slow.
  11. the newer KTM250 four strokes probably make as much power as the pre 2003 KTM400. In the circuits available for SM (eg, Nusajaya and maybe Tuas), i doubt the 250 will lose out to the 400 in the straights. In pasir gudang, yes, but then all SMs will lose out to the sportsbikes on the straights there. the KTM250 is light and fun, spare parts support not an issue...be willing to pay about S$12K for a 2006, 07 one, and S$18K for the newer style ones. Euro $$ has really got up these few years. Send me a pm if you need more info. Will be glad to share.
  12. HI maman_r1.... come join us tomorrow and you will find out the answers to your Qs. For those who are curious and wanna find out more about motard, come see this event, we are more than happy to share info.
  13. i have one for sale. In very new condition. Only done 700km. SMS 96275464 to find out more. Have new aftermarket pipe to let go along.
  14. A XR is a XR, how can it become a DRZ?
  15. i have just bought a second hand one. its very nice-looking. if intend to use on go-kart tracks, these mods will be needed: 1. wider rear rim, now 4inch... go for at least 4.25 or 4.5 2. 320mm front disk 3. after market caliper, at least 4 pot If intended to play hard, then these are needed : 1. hi com piston (now only 8.8 :1) 2. full exhaust system 3. air box mods 4. pumper carb, probably mikuni as keihin seems a tad too tall 5. suspension rework, maybe heavier oil to start with.
  16. i have a XR400SM. Kleviard is correct. Its heavy and need lots of mods and even then it may not be competitive. For closed tracks, i prefer the KTM525. For public transport and maybe a few hours fun at Pasir Gudang or Nursajaya, i may bring my XR. Its strange but the XR400SM does not come with oil cooler. There are more welding at the frame to make it stronger.
  17. i bought my ARAI from Tokyo. They changed the padding inside to suit my head profile. Now it fits so nice. Cannot be happier. Price is low too.. S$500 (new).
  18. search this website for motonotion... someone here promotion. welcome to SM world T1 XR650L SM
  19. We have exchanged emails a couple of times several years ago thru overseas SM website. Glad you are still in the game. Come join us soon : )
  20. MXSTEVEN, are you all still playing at the gokart tracks at Sunway Lagoon?
  21. Hi, thanks for arranging the meeting. I am keen to join. I am riding motard. I will be in Singapore during this time (1 to 8-Jan and 22 to 31-Jan). If you can arrange during this time, i am very keen to join. Once again, thanks for leading this meeting. 1. Madman 2. Ulysses_sc 3. FB666Y 4. Terri_one
  22. That's a good starting point. Get the stickest tyre you pocket allows. Do not worry about mileage, because the XR is light, the tyre will last, unlike on a sports bike. Select 120/70 front and 150/60 rear. Tyre pressure about 22 to 26psi.
  23. i think there is a metal coil around the peripheral of the cash card. so when punching holes, aim for at least 7 mm off the sides...maybe more.
  24. you will have to replace the tube or send it for hard chrome locally. ask bike shops like bikelab for details.
  25. cheaper way to start is to convert both wheels to 18inch diameter. less than few hundreds and you are on your way with new tyres and wide smile. auntie shop is the wrong place to begin. vector one, ideal, dirtwheel, mayo street, ah piao toa payoh are better starting points.
