HOW to see if a Super4 has been accident before?
Seiki83 replied to ahboy_ahboy's topic in Naked/Street Bikes
bro, ask a mechanic whom you can trust, don't just check the "cosmetics"... and observe yourself if there is any major leaks. even if the bike had an accident before, it doesn't mean it is not in good condition. Sometimes, sellers repray their bike before letting go cos they want to hide internal damages that can cost the new buyer a bomb if you didn't check properly... internal damages are the problematic ones, which is usually caused by owners bad habits of not taking good care of the bike, like ramming the trottle, dragging your gears, and not changing the engine oil regularly. as long as you didnt see any major leaks to the engine block, ask the mechanic to check your engine condition, and observe if your bike give you any problems during your ridin... you need not worry too much about it! =) -
hmm... could it be the break piston problem? can you still feel your rear brake when you press on it? if not, i suggest you'll have to go to the bike shop to check it out.. normally it's very rare for the brake oil to be spilling all over, even for new bikes. My advice is to go to a trusted bike shop like K&T to check it out... look for Clifford, he's good... =)

Did you check your fuel meter in standing position or when you put your bike on side stand? Usually the meter shows reserve easily (even it is actually one or two bar) when your bike is on side stand. 25km/litre is a good sign, cos i know some s4 riders can only hit about 19-20km/litre... I am riding a vtec 1, and my fuel consumption is average around 25km/litres also. FYI, the reserve signal will come on when your tank is left with about 3 litres of petrol. So, I think you pump your tank way too early... Besides, if you can get 270km with 11 litres of patrol, I am pretty sure you can wait a bit longer everytime before you go and pump your petrol. Based on my own personal habit, I will usually go and pump petrol everytime after I clock above 330km (can pump about 13 litres) even though I know my bike full tank can go above 400km. I heard it is not adviceable to clock your bike to the maxium milege everytime before you pump in petrol, cos it's not good for the engine. I am impressed by flykite though, who can clock up to 500km full tank... probably I will need to gain some trottle discipline. Also, try pumping your petrol in standing position too to see how much more litres of petrol you can pump in. Usually, there can be about 1-2 litre difference. This account the difference in pumping a full tank and "not so full" tank. Hope my little piece of info help you clear your doubts! =)

yalar... I think such people really need to reflect on themselves, especially if he or she knows what happened and ran off like tat... it can be serious matter ya know, cos if any lighted material falls on the pool of patrol which was spilling out my bike, it can ignate an explosion and cause damage to bikes beside it as well... I really hope to ask all bikers (especially after my "terrible" incident) to help each other take a look out for each other's bikes, whether or not you know the owner of the bike. cos who knows, it may affect your bike indirectly if it catches fire.. so caution! =)

mayb somethings wrong with the wiring... I suggest you go do grounding for your bike (if you haben do it) and at the same time ask the mechanic to check for you... cos to me it seems like your bike voltage or current pathway had gone haywire alr.. it is common especially to those who mod their bike and didnt put a voltage stabiliser. but anyway, that's just my guess... who knows it's just your internal wires got loose or something... =)

Hi guys, my bike had a bad day today while i was sleeping soundly in my room this saturday (20 October 2007). My bike had suffered from a stationary fall, which I believed was due to a car who knocked my bike on the tail in the carpark and went off out of fear this morning... when I ran down to retrieve my bike, patrol was spilling all over on the ground, my box, rack, tail cover and crush bar were also in a pretty bad shape.. I hope to ask anyone who is kind enough to drop me an sms at 90600633 if you saw the driver and what happened today on a blue vtec 1 with the number plate FS XXX X in the open carpark at Blk 153 Woodlands St 13. Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks! For the culprit out there, I believed everyone here hate to see a coward who dared to knock down ppl's bike (even if it is accidental) and not do anything about it nor admit it. Btw, I am just a student with no income, and that unintentional fall cost me $216 for the fixing and custom repairs, which I used my savings to pay for it. In comparison to you who drive a car, I believed asking you to have a little conscious and own up what you did is not a big matter. I really appreciate if you can stand up for what you did to me... Thanks!

wah... i am lost! =p

haha... i agree with casiolover... =) well, you can ask the mechanic to tune it for you at the bike shop... unless your rpm keeps shifting up and down quite obviously, then i suggest you service your carb if ya wana keep your bike always at optimum level...

bro, i do not know why your's 19km/l but maybe it is normal... i am riding a vtec also but mine also like gene usually hit around 25km/l and my max was about 27km/l. the previous owner (my elder brother), who is 100+kg, also had his FC (on the same bike) around 23-24km/l. probably your carburetter need to wash alr? or probly you need to do a valve clearence to clear the particles in the valves? I am not too sure about it... but i guess a normal vtec's (whether spec 1, 2 or 3) FC is around 21-27km/l and we should usually hit the reserve tank only after 300km (unless you didn't pump your tank full - 15l + 3l of reserve).. if 20km/l and below you gotta check it out with the mechanic, see what he says... as for riding habits, i was told by my friends that it's better to change gear whenever your rpm hit around 3.5-4 (to protect your engine and help FC, even though I am not too sure how true is it), unless it's the top gear... NEVER DRAG YOUR ENGINE! thou i know most of us know... but sometimes we drag it without our notice... =p well... tat's juz my 20 cents worth of thought... hope it helps and not make you worry too much abt it... i suggest u ask the mechanic when you go for next eo change if it really matters you a lot... =)

it's normal, and it's especially the case for the older bikes like spec 1 or spec 2, unless you still could not start the engine after 2 to 3 tries... if not, your engine is fine and there's nothing wrong with the spark plugs (i checked with a lot of mechanics before). i figured it out that it got to do with how honda designed their engine to allow cold start... i even have friends riding spec 3 experiencing the same thing, and i believe some of us here experience the same thing too... so dun worry! =)

hey, is yours still brembo brakes? willing to change parts too if ya interested... mine is a spec 1 bike.

"High on~~ Gasoline..." hahaha... yeah... sweet! anw, hmm i saw K&T Clifford was assembling a S4 for overhaul 4 weeks ago and Sin Boon 1 week ago too... maybe if ya want, you can go and check it out... haha... sounds like paparazzi...

check your engine oil bro, if need to top up, top up a bit before your next eo change... but if it's time to change your eo, change maxima ultra or extra, see if the smell still stays... btw, it cld also be the fact that we are too sensitive to the smell... cos i got my brother, who ride s4 b4 to check the exhaust smell of my bike, he said it's normal, then I realize I was over-sensitive over the petrol smell. =)
