I noticed 2 bikes last night with problematic rear red light.

First of all I was riding on the PIE at about 11.30pm. Hazy night, so visibility wasn't good.

The first bike I passed by was a madass 125. Rear light was faulty or wasn't there, but rider replaced it with a small blinking light. Problem is - it's too small/slim to be visible from afar.

My first tot was I was riding pass an electric bicycle when I pass the bike in the middle of a expressway.

The second bike was a RVF400 with pillon. Rear bulb faulty, so no light for the back ppl to see. From a distance of about 100m, I can only see a black spot behind a car. The bike has blended into the darkness + haze.

At near midnight drivers are driving fast, so they won't be able to spot the bike until a close distance. In both cases, both bikes are ok to ride in the day, but at night, please ensure your rear light is working and bright enough for ppl to see.

Good reminder these days when vis can be poor.

To add on, don't forget to ensure the brake light switch and the 2nd filament in the rear bulb are working. Some motorists may be dozing and too close to you. If you start braking, they might not be able to tell till it's too late, if they don't see the change in brightness.

IN THE last few nights, i have been noticing quite a few bikes with no rear red lights too. i dont know is it because you highlighting it here or people become more complacent or no money to replace the bulbs

Been noticing this alot too lately. Usually on J plated bikes but when they press the brake there is light. Its only when they do not press brake then totally no light. I have always wanted to have really bright tail lights though. Like really really bright. Mainly because most drivers are blind.
