advice needed and hence this thread. sorry if this has been done before by other users.

I just got my 2b license and I am looking to get a Christmas present for myself. A bike to sorta practise before advancing to 2A. This bike won't be my primary mode of transport. its for me to just go out and feel the wind (or rain) whenever I feel stressed up or just want to.

I don't want to splash > $10k on a bike which I know I won't use for more than 2 years. I would definitely go for 2A lessons when I can and I will change bike after I pass.

So the question is what bike would you recommend for a newbie rider? I am looking at perhaps $6-7k for a decent used bike and am leaning towards the 150ccs specifically fz16, fz150i or cbf150. but I am open to suggestions and your opinions.

thank you all very much for your input!

Yes! I got myself a 3 year old fz16 at almost $6k with 71k on the odo. I am technically the 4th owner. This bike was probably in a skid at some point coz of scratches along the side. But other than that, it runs ok.

I welcome comments/flames. I can take criticism coz i want to learn before i move on to my 2nd bike. Thanks for reading!

I am very partial to harley cruisers. In fact i will get one when i get my class 2. But you are abt the 2nd person to say "anything but a cruiser" to me. I know its obviously different from street bikes in terms of posture so not great if for learning sakes. But anything else? Phantom is so common that i feel like getting one for the sake of it.

Feel free to air your views if any coz i am interested to hear you out.

Welcome to the riding club! I too got my 2B license recently and got myself a "christmas present". Presently riding a Pulsar 200NS. Bought a 2nd hand one and now loving every moment on the bike. =)

Im from the cruiser route.

While it helps in handling the harley, it wont help at the learning centre.

I was constantly finding the footrest, the cg is different and you have to use less of the rear brakes.

Takes a while to adjust

imho, doesnt matter cruiser, sports or what bike.

if you're considering to upgrade, just get a cheap reliable bike for your 2B. eg (spark/ x1r)

you shld find the basics of riding, handling, and maintaining all ard the same if you put your heart to learn what is needed for a bike.

I just got my new bike too after my Class 2B passed on sept this year.

I got myself Tiger GL200R Honda. This bike is nasty at it's own category. it also got the BBDC bike feel too. lolx but much much more agile and powerful.

I tested it with pillion ramping up Jurong Hill summit without losing of power and control.

Bought at a reasonable price. Pulsar initially is my first choice. but after i spot this beauty, it just set my eyes on her.

Hope you luv your baby too. cheers
