It's a love hate relationship between Mercedes Benz and who I work for. On one hand I am rather upset to find the business given to us insufficient unlike with BMW, Audi, Porsche and VW, yet I am filled with respect for their capacity to develop many things themselves and split the suppliers into many places limiting the capabilities of the suppliers taking the route of making effcient aftermarket development. The steering and transmisison market are some excellent examples.

It's just like how some swiss watches use their own movements while others use a generic ETA movement. Each has its own pros and cons.

 

As a driver and car owner , i dont really care as long as reliability and durability are met in line with performance and price.

We stand on different grounds looking at the same thing differently. That's why the business aspect matters a lot to me. If my HQ don't clinch the contract, we cannot sell aftermarket. But of course so long the project lands in our hands, the customer will get their assurance of tremendous reliability. That's how the business goes.

 

Yes, stlil on the VW. Good old trusty machine. Reliable and reasonable performing car. Practical yet gives me reasonable performance for the track. A very good all rounder. 100,000km and yet the car never had to rely on a tow truck. Defeats the myth of the DSG weakness. It's the owner, not the car.
