I got my bandit 3 months ago, here are my problems

Airbox not sealed properly to carb, cause poor idling

Radiator leaks, bike heat up real fast

Front and Rear brake dust cover came off, braking performance affected

Battery terminal corroded, no power to the whole bike.

Fork leaking, bike unstable going over humps and pot holes

Steering cone very stiff

Parts are rusty

I got most of the things sorted out the bike is running like a champ now except for the leaking fork wait got $$ then go guan hoe service.

Common problem on bandit400

CDI fail

Engine oil leaking from valve cover

Water going into the spark plug hole

Suspension too soft

Fouled plugs

But I still love my Bandit :lovestruck:

Don't think too hard about it. You don't need a reason.

JUST RIDE.

shld be abt 16.5 max. 13.5 + 3l for the reserve. mileage subjective depending on the way u ride. i used to run abt 220k max on a full tank before hitting reserve, but that meant min 110 on the road:smile:

I believe it's 16L

12.5L running tank

3.5L reserve

I switch to reserve at 240km, approx 18km per litre of petrol. Avg speed of travel is 90-120km/h

Recently put back all the rubber studs at the pilot jets, took them out initially because bike did not idle properly when I first got the bike.

By removing the studs the idling was ok but I was running rich all the while without realising it until I fouled spark plug #4.

Then I put back the 4 rubber studs at the pilot jets and found the reasons why the bike did not idle properly the first time, its becasue the airbox rubber mainifold was not seated properly at carb #2, causing leaks. There are deep compression marks on the air box #2 rubber manifold indicating it was not seated correctly to carb #2.

After I put back the rubber studs, seated the airbox to carb properly, replace the fouled plug and did carb syn. The bike runs beautifully now I'm still monitoring the mileage should improve further I think.

According to the Bandit Manual:

E33 version is 14.5L, While all other models is 16.0 L

Reserve is 3.5 L for both which means 12.5 L main tank.

I did a experiment this week. I went to JB par yew Petronas full till brim. Ran until 101 km by the counter (was trying for 100 km, but missed petrol station by 1 km) and re-top up to brim. Exact petrol used was 5.67 L.

During the 100KM, 70% was highway and 50% was pillon (but not a very heavy pillon). Bike has no box, and riding style was "relaxed"-- due to being weekend in sg.

That give approx 17.81 km/L which provides a theorectical limit of 285 km....

I've ever ridden till 270 :-) :-) :-).....

I see. This is puzzling.

I was trying out my milleage b4 touching reserve. I managed to reach 300km and haven't touch reserve. Satisfied with 300km without touching reserve, i went to pump petrol. I still managed to sqeeze in 14 litres.... :giddy: :giddy: Which will bring me to the next question.... what direction of the fuel switch is reserve and main tank?!?!?  If what was mentioned is true, i may be riding with reserve all this while! :cheeky: :cheeky: :cheeky:

Switch lever point down is main tank and lever point front is reserved.
