the china made has heat shield. but my headers r nt wrapped. they come wif single seat also. holes r predrilled.

 

If so, it is worth the price. FYI, I bought it at 1.2k when it is not so popular. So your price is consider very good liao. If you intend to fix up yourselves, be prepared to spent many hours. I took total 9hrs to remove the stock and fix up the new one

hi people!!! What should i take note of if i buy NEW cbr 1k 08? What other price other den the machine price? for example COE and other thing. Nobody help me see 2nd hand maybe must buy 1st hand. but if Ex by too many thousand den i think wait for a good 2nd hand. please help!!!

Do note if buying from BP.

 

1) IU is not included in the OTR price of a brand new bike

2) Dont attempt to get freebies from them

3) And, if u're cashing a bike from them, price would be slightly higher than on loan.

 

The rest is to ask them to give u a breakdown of the items included. Like Machine price, COE, Rd tax, insurance and all the etc etc.

 

Other than that, their prices for brand new bikes is unbeatable. Too bad when i was looking for my 750 last time, they dont bring in.

Of cos there would be a few fees here and there, u'll have to ask them what it stands for if you dont understand..

 

And if you're there for a quote, get them to write down in black/white..

Noticeable difference from the specs sheet;

 

2008:

- 43mm inverted HMAS cartridge fork with spring preload, rebound and compression damping adjustability; 4.7 inches travel

- Dual radial-mounted four-piston calipers with full-floating 320mm discs

 

2009:

- 43mm inverted HMAS cartridge fork with spring preload, rebound and compression damping adjustability; 4.3 inches travel

- Dual radial-mounted four-piston calipers with 320 mm discs

 

2009 & 2010 gives the same technical data.

 

 

Some changes they probably never mention as well.Especially on those more sensitive areas..

The new CBR fender is not cheap as the stock fender is one piece together with the tray which by the way is your rear seat compartment. Meaning if you remove the stock fender, when you open your rear seat, you can see your rear tyre liao. So it is more expensive to produce as they need to make the tray also. I check online, easily cost above $200. The cheap way is actually to saw off the stock fender. Or maybe you can go down see the actual thing before decide. They are quite friendly one.

08 and 09 CBR no different. The only different is 09 comes with a smaller and sleeker rear signal lights that all. 08 should be selling cheaper compared to 09. As for Agent bike, you can get from Bike prod, Loois, Mah.. they confirmed are selling Agent bike. You can see a Boon Siew embossed sticker on the front fender.

 

As for how to differentiate US and Europe version,

 

1) Normally Europe version only have one rear reflector. Others have reflector on the side.

 

2) US version have power cut at the top rpm. This one you have to ride to know.

 

3) US and Euro normally have different colour scheme. Check Honda US and Euro website to confirm.

 

4) If I am not wrong, US version do not have HISS system. However I might be wrong.

 

 

As for new bike purchase, here is the breakdown,

 

1) Machine price - make sure it is with GST. Sometime bikeshop will quote without GST.

 

2) COE - Ask them to add in the COE. For bike production, they usually will quote you the price with a bidding COE price. For example, they will say the bike is $XXXXX with a $700 bidding coe. Then you will have to wait for the next COE bidding result. If higher, you top up. If lower they refund you the difference.

 

3) Adminstration fee, Agreement fee, blah blah blah - this is supposed to cover the cost incur for the Hire purchase agreement and whole lots of other bullshit. Normally is $100+ and above.

 

4) Road tax - Should be included and normally is 6 months.

 

5) Insurance - They will quote you based on your age, riding experience, brand etc.... You can ask for a free quotation from NTUC to gauge if the bike shop have over quote you or not.

 

6) IU - Normally bike shop should include this item inside. But some shop like Bike Prod don't. Now they don't even want to install it but they will recommend you where to install, near their shop only. That guy charge $175 to install and somemore put inside seat one. Bracket is seperate charges. Alternatively you can go Vicom to install. Should be around $160 only. Double check first.

 

7) Freebie - Try to ask for slider, headlight protector, bike cover, helmet. Normally they will give. But normally it is cover inside their selling price. Don't bother asking from Bike Prod. They will not give any freebies unless you are regular customer.

 

8) Interest rate - Right now for new bike, interest rate should be 4% pa. Meaning 1 year loan 4%, 2 yrs 8% and so on. I heard some bike shop offer 2+%. My friend got it at everbright for 2+%.

 

9) Early settlement fee - This is the non-logical part of the deal. You settle your installment early and you will be slapped with a fee. It is written in your agreement. Ask the bikeshop how they charge. However there is still some bikeshop like Loois who don't charge early settlement fee. If you settle early, they will rebate back to you part of your remaining interest. Like how car loan works.

 

For 2nd hand, refer back to most of the points above with some differences,

 

1) Machine price should include GST already as it is already charged when the 1st owner bought it. Those shop who still include GST can ask them go fly kite.

 

4) Road tax is usually what's left by the previous owner. You can ask the bikeshop to renew for you the most half a yr.

 

8) Interest rate varies from 5% and above.
