Congrats to you for completing this trip. Yeah, it is not impossible to tour with a sportbike. Just must have the right mindset.

I really do envy you. Every year tell myself must go up to northen Thai but in the end postpone due to money and leave constraint. I shall "attempt" it this year! By the way, how many days you took? From my understanding, if touch and go will still need 6 days.

Thanks bro... to Touch N Go to G.T and MHS and back in 6 days is insufficient..

can be done but not advisable... u will be riding day to midnight daily

We went with the following Itinerary for Northern Thailand Ride...

Day 1 GP Esso > Hat Ya i 890 KM

Day 2 Hat Yai > Hua Hin 880 KM

Day 3 Hua Hin > Chiang Mai 923 KM

Day 4 Chiang Mai > Chiang Saen (Golden Triangle) >Mae Sai(Burma)380 KM

Day 5 Mae Sai/Doi Tung/Doi Chang Mood > Chiang Mai 213 KM

Day 6 Chiang Mai > Mae Hong Son 178 KM

Day 7 Mae Hong Son (RnR)

Day 8 Mae Hong Son >Doi Ithanon >Chiang Mai 279KM

Day 9 Chiang Mai (RnR)

Day 10 Chiang Mai > Hua Hin 922 KM

Day 11 Hua Hin >Krabi 579 KM

Day 12 Krabi (RnR)

Day 13 Krabi > Hat Yai 264 KM

Day 14 Hat Yai (RnR)

Day 15 Hat Yai > Singapore *890 KM

RnR Depends wat u call it... can be Rest N Relax, Rock N Roll (at night :) )

The Idea is to Ride Hard and have some Rest Days in between so u can explore the cities, mountains, temples, foods, night market, etc and of coure taste the local "dishes" :)

Notice that on Day5 213KM, Day6 178km and Day8 279km the distance is quite short.... Its because for Day 5 we had a short ride so we can rest early for the day because trust me it may be only 178km on Day6 but it feels like forever going thru all the Twisties, curves, and bends ala Laguna Seca :) along the mountains on Day 6 and Day 8.

Ull get an overdose of adrenaline rush playing around the bends which cant be found anywhere else in our region... imagine riding on a sunny day but at aircon temperature but it depends on which month of the year u're there, dec-jan is the best, clear blue skies greeting u everyday.

Hua HIn to Chiang Mai & Chiang Mai to Hua Hin route is the arguably most butt torturing among all, we start at 6am onli to arrive @ 9pm both ways :)

In oder to prepare for Northen Thai Ride start saving at least a year b4...

Cost is high, not including servicing yr bike for the trip New tyres etc,

U need to have at least SGD 1.5 k in Thai for petrol, hotel, food and "others"

for the m'sia n/s highway it will be 5 stops up and 5 stops back so u need abt RM500 for petrol n food...:thumb:

Hey, thanks for the itenary. Can use it as a reference. Ya, twisty can really slow you down alot. The cost is rather high for the Thai part. But I understand the petrol is generally high in Thai. By the way, you pump ron95 (SGD1.5/L) all the way or using gasohol 95 (SGD1/L)? For me, I will use gasohol. Tried it many times, no problem at all. If you are using ron95, then the cost still be be further reduced. Normally I will only spend SGD100 along NSHW. Cause it only for petrol stop. As you can see, I will KENG all the way on budget :cheeky:

I think many are put off by the long leave needed and the cost involved. Alot of my friends will prefer to fly as it is cheaper. Some will say very tiring, this and that. To me as long you can make it to Hatyai, everyday will be the same thing. So not much difference. The excitment of exploring new place overcomes the tireness instead.

BTW, you rode to India via Myanmmar?

Well fuel is ex in Thai... so cant be too fussy on fuel but preferably anything with 95 and abv... pump a lot of PTT cos they got 7-11 so very handy to grab a quick bite asd top up. we will start to look for petrol kiosk once we hit 180km mark to be on the safe side or stop every 2 hours, more than 2 hours u'll be loosing focus/concentration... although there's one stretch where we didnt come to a petrol kiosk til my meter was almost 230km mark and surprisingly the reserve light was not up yet even after goin average speeds of 150-200km/h

So yr cuz went to India Via Myanmar or laos, china? how to go about on paper works? we were not allowed to cross over in Myanmar. As far as i know, even discussed in the GT rider forum, Myanmar, China and Vietnam are almost Impossible to cross over unless u have some big shot connections?

1000cc normally have higher crusing speed therefore consume lesser petrol at higher speed compared to smaller cc bike. Yeah, I love PTT too. Especially with the 7-11. And I like how PTT sound in Thai :cheeky:

OIC. Given the cost and trouble, I will rather fly to India and either buy a cheap bike or rent one to ride round India. But then need time and money again :dozed:..... But UPz for the touring spirit!

Is it possible to get a new blade but with the 08 color schemes? I don't really like the new ones. Maybe ask agent to swap or something?

If they still have 08 bike stock with the colour you wanted, they might do it for a fee. I have heard of ppl doing that. Otherwise, I don't think they will ship in the fairing of your choice for you just to exhange it. You may have to by it then. But it up to them. Maybe you can check with your bike shop.

wats PTT ?

It called Pat Tong Tong in Thai. It's their national petronium company. Something like our SPC and Malaysia Petronas. Normally their petrol stations very big one and comes with a nice proper 7-11.

Pls chk ur brake pads n clean ur brake calipers bro...

There cld be a few causes..

-brake pads wearing out...

-foreign particles like tiny rock or sands stuck in ur caliper/brake pad area

-cld be others though like ur brake bleeding/hose or etc...

Does it affects ur braking performance..?

Anyway its best to take alook at it. If ur unsure u can drop by any bike shop.

Any bike shop shld know how to do basic checking of the brake calipers, pads n etc...
