Hi,

New model of honda cruisers is the parrallel imported VT400s. Currently in Singapore, there are only 2 owners of it (Mi and another bro). It cost around 16.8K OTR without insurance.

Some shops can import 2011 shadow classic 400....but it will cost a bomb....

Any bike shops have the bike in the shop? Feel like going to take a look-see after my reservist ends next week

Dear Riders

I am currently a Phantom TA200 rider for 3 plus years. I have intentions to upgrade to Class 2A and since i prefer cruisers i have narrowed down my choices to Shadow & Steed. However, i have trouble deciding which of these 2 trusty iron horses by Honda is more suitable for me.

I will like to seek the opinions of the Shadow riders in this forum to assist me.

Many Thanks

For sure, we'll say Shadow ACE because we're in the Shadow 400 thread. LOL

If you want classic, retro style bike, a Shadow ACE is one of the finest designed rides out there. The ACE never goes out of style. :thumb:

Now, if you are the chopper or bobber type, the Honda Steed is perfect. You can chop it, hack it, extend it.

Pardon me as i have no idea what is a Shadow ACE.

I will be interested in the following details, please point me a direction

1) Overall length (stock)

2) Dry Weight (stock)

3) Fuel Consumption

4) Handling

5) Ability to lane split on SG roads during peak hours =)

1) Overall length (stock) 2.455m

2) Dry Weight (stock) 225kg

3) Fuel Consumption --> Depends on bike condition, normal consumption should be 20-24km/litre

4) Handling --> u shouldn't have problem cuz u have been riding phantom.

5) Ability to lane split on SG roads during peak hours --> depend on your handlebar length, and also the type of mirror used. for me i got no problem cuz i adjusted my mirror so that the overall length is shorter. Depend on your skills and bravery too. LOL!

Hi bro,

Shadow is bigger than Steed and of course heavier....and looks more solid than steed. And if you can dress it up like our Crusierian bro's ride, it sure looks cool! My personal preference --- Shadow!!! LOL........

My size is not big just 1.70m & 65kg. So I may have to take some time to get use to the much bigger size and weight of this bike.

Don't worry bro, i am also short, 1.65m. No matter you get which bike, ride slow and gentle at first, very fast you will get use to it de.. shadow's seat height very low only, you can easily put your both feet down..very steady one..

Tried to search for the screw when washing my bike the other day, couldnt seem to find it. Is it a allen bolt or a minus bolt?

There is a screw at the bottom of the carb, try draining that first. Remember to use a cloth.

The fuel pump cost $200 with labor if I m not wrong.

I like the look and feel after it's fixed. Only thing is that when I meddle with the idling, the bike rides weird.

The only consolation is that I sold my ACE to a passionate cruiser former who appreciate the bike like me. ;)

I'm 1.62m and I can also handle a Shadow 400, even though I'm riding the 750cc version. The added advantage you have over me, tankee1981, is you're 7kg lighter than me. That will help for fuel consumption too :cheeky:

How is the FC of Shadow compared with Steed?

One has a heritage softail look and the other a sportster. You can see the shocks on a shadow but not on a steed.

If you plan to put saddles, windscreen, sissy bars and other cool accesories, it'll only look good on a shadow. IMHO.

For an old bike, fc will range from 17km/l onwards.

I'm getting 27km/l for my steed but thats not in any way normal.

Price reduce for the serious buyer. Honda Shadow 400cc For Sale!!! Year of Manufacture: 2006, 5 years old.

Sorry for those who try to call me while I was abroad for the last month, my schedule for the next half year look like to be out of town most of the time. I therefore would consider any serious Shadow Hunter for his sincere approach, so that she will be in good hand.
