Hi all Shadow lovers!! I am new to this forum n intend to get a Shadow Ace 400 soon..

Had not been riding for a few years liao due to family commitments.. Now itchy again! Hahaha..

Check with u guys any common faults that need to highlight? tks guys!!

Shadow 400 ace is a good and relaxing bike. If u maintain it well, it will be a very reliable bike that will not give u problem. A few things you need to be sure before u purchase any shadow:

- Engine condition

- coolant system

- any engine oil leakage

These are costly to fix so it's better for u to counter check that above are good working condition before u make any purchase. True life story.

if possible, get one that is less than 10 yrs old, lesser problem. More exp but is better.

Anyway mine is 15 yr lor, bo value liao so likely ride till cannot make it.

I just got a honda shadow ace with two side box, wondering what size cover would fit it , L which is 220x95x110 or XL which is 245x105x125, dont wanna get too big nor too small,hope experienced bros here can help me out!

Different brands have different sizes and dimensions. Maybe you can just measure your bike and get the widest and highest point so that you can purchase the right size?

Im using Trax XL with side boxes and windscreen.

Hello, Finally managed to achieve it.

I want to share how I achieved my current 23KM/L from 18km/L mileage. 322km vs 252 for 14L. ESSO 95.

1. Changed drive chain to O ring from a loose non o ring chain.

2. Changed from stock 43 tooth rear sprocket to 38 Tooth. (Better highway speeds and able to drag each gear longer. Very slight pick up loss)

3. Changed Engine oil into 5w40(lighter oil)

4. Clean, polish and lubricate(with a proper caliper grease) the front brake caliper piston.

5. Ensure your rear brake is not dragging by adjusting the nut.

6. Installed a windshield

7. Used a FD rated 2t into petrol at a ratio of 2ml/L of petrol.

8. Changed my dirty stock air filter into UNI reuseable air filter. When re-installing, I made sure that all parts are properly assembled.

9. Follow and adjust your fuel air ratio to stock. Learn to do this at point 12 - 14 at http://www.sa750.net/exhaust/exhaust.htm. For 400cc ace, you dont have to drill to access the adjustment screw.

10. Avoid over revving at lower gears.

Do your part to reduce the carbon footprint and enjoy the savings for better things in life.

Tis is my FC on my steed 400.

Top up $12 Ron98 from reserve. 1litre Ron98 is $2.34 so $12 is approx. 5.12litres of petrol.

Rode on s'pore roads at speed between 80kmh - 100kmh until hit reserve again. Mileage clocked 120km.

So 120km divide 5.12ltr = 23.4km/ltr

Correct my maths if wrong......

A well maintain steed can definitely have better FC compare to shadow400 mainly because of the weight. ðŸ˜‰

But my previous steed is 18kmpl though. Haha

My ex shadow 3 years ago was a 4year old beauty! The newer shadow ace is equipped with Honda Ignition Security System (HISS) and come with a pair of big strong rider floor plate that can act as a crashbar.

but very few selling in the market

in fact saw on old uncle riding one this morning FBF plate. Swee!
