seems to me tht you are saying God can only bless us with wealth thru working? if tht's the case, then y did God allow/created things such as investments?

 

God created the world, universe, etc but money,

numbers, companies, stocks, stock markets, bonds,

financial instruments, loans, insurance etc are all

man's creation. And these things are getting more

and more creative and overgrown, the more you know

about it the more you understand it is a house of cards.

 

So, from Matthew chapter 6,

 

19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

i do argee tht all these things are temporary but the verses you quoted meant more than this.

 

a common discussion among Christians is whether as Christians should we live a life of riches or be poor.

 

i believe that God has so much to give to us for He is after all, our Provider. Wat's impt is our motives and attitudes of being well to do. that's when the verses you've quoted comes in. The Word is telling us to be careful of our motives and attitudes.

 

if money corrupts our hearts and pulls us away from God then its better to avoid it but if by giving us more money, we are able to glorify God, extend His Kingdom etc... then i don't see how by accumalting these earthly temporary riches can't store treasures in Heaven as well.

 

It all really depends on the person itself, God looks at the heart. Earlier Tim mentioned about stewardship and this is what it means, whether the person knows how to use the riches God gives him.

 

i personally know 2 local multi millionaires that God has blessed so much cause of their heart and stewardship. The kind of money they pump into God's Kingdom is frightening, figures that i might not even have a chance to see ever in my life.

 

jus a side note, its true tht everything is made by God. Doesn't mean that the Bible stopped at Genesis about God's creation and tht's the end of God's creation. God created men (& women, jus in case some pple complain ) with a brain and from there things start to develop but remember it was God who gave men (& women) the brains and intelligence to do tht. Now some might ask how come there are things tht are ungodly then? well, its all due to the perversion of man's mind, our sinful nature and of cus the power of darkness. for eg, sex was originally made by God for husband and wife and it isn't sinful, if not i won't be here typing . but due to the perversion of man's mind, things like homosexuality, porn, one nite stands etc.. start to arise

God is our daddy God, and he loves us and blesses us in everything. There are a number of Christians who wonder the same questions about money. Is it right to pray for $? I also face the same question at times. Well, if God does'nt want us be blessed in $, he would'nt have made so many man of God in the bible sooooooo very WEALTHY!!!!

 

As the Bible tells us, if we seek after $, it will take wings and fly away. But as Jesus says, seek not after worldly things, but seek ye first the 'kingdom of God and his righteousness' and A-L-L these things that we desire will be A-D-D-E-D unto us. By believing and confessing that we are rightesous by faith through the blood of Jesus. That as righteous as Jesus in now in heaven, so are we in this world. The Bible promises that Daddy God's goodness and mercy will OVERTAKE us when our eyes are upon him, and focusing more and more of Jesus work on the cross for us. Hallelujah

 

NinjaLite, I understand what u mean by 'we can teh teh our Father mah'. John 3: 16 "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God", many Christians think after we are saved, we must work for at our Christian life so God will bless us and give us what we want, so we pray as if we're pleading God, "Oh God, please....." That's not the way our papa God wants us to pray, but by faith and boldness through the blood of Jesus believing that we are Kings and Priest in his house.

 

As Jesus IS, so are we in this world. By realising our identity in Jesus, we reign in life through Jesus Christ our saviour who has redeemed us from the curse of sin that's in the law by being a curse for us at the cross. Amen!!!

i personally know 2 local multi millionaires that God has blessed so much cause of their heart and stewardship. The kind of money they pump into God's Kingdom is frightening, figures that i might not even have a chance to see ever in my life.

 

I have also met such people in my life; the more he showed God that he is using his money to expand God's kingdom, the more God gives to him. Can this be a co-incident or another miracle by our awesome God?

Now regarding the story of Job as mentioned by one of our bro here. 20something years ago when my younger brother came out from NS, his 1st job was to work for Seagate as a production SV. My younger bro was the most spiritual person in my whole family. He was from the Navigator group. He conduct BS , serve God diligently in his church & do quiet time with God & read the Bible everyday at home ( i observed him everyday). Yet after a few months in Seagate , he was retrenched. He had to be jobless for a few months. He was probably feeling how Job had felt. Did he lose his faith & ask why did God abandon him? Why is he getting all the bad luck when my other free thinker brothers are so successful?

 

Then he found a job - a better one than before. He found a job with MRT as a Technical Officer doing electrical maintenance . And guess what? The job requires him to standby most of the time & do almost nothing, until something breaks down. So for the last 20 years, he had time to study & prepare for his BS groups & other church activities. His kind of work is not desk bound & he can just go anywhere he likes on the MRT to meet other church members. Because he is so keen to serve God, God gave him a relaxing job, so that he can serve even more.

 

And was he blessed financially after 20 years? He definitely is. He sold his 70K flat for 200+ K years later & dump his cash profit into Bonds which was yielding more than 7% interest in those days. He bought a bigger flat which has appreciated in value. A few years ago, he was promoted to Asst Mgr.

 

Also look at the couple who testify how God saved their marriage 5 years ago in my church last sat's Miracle rally. When they stopped being lukewarm & serve God passionately- God poured His blessing into their family, healed their relationship, blessed them financially with a en-bloc & hubby got a manager job. All these blessings is spread over 5 years.

 

The fact is that we as human cannot see a short term suffering & declare that the righteous are sometimes not blessed. Sometimes we have to wait many years to see that the righteous & the faithful will indeed be blessed bountifully until their cups overflows. This is indeed what happens to Job, who never stop praising God even though he suffered so much pain initially.

 

So what lesson can we learn here? Forget about building our career & wealth. Just serve God diligently, walk in the straight & narrow path. Never allow sin to have a small foothold in your heart. Attend a weekly BS, read the Holy Bible everyday, pray everyday. Worship Him in his church & bring your friends & relatives there. Also have fellowship with other christians in cell groups etc to encourage & strengthen each others' faith . Do have a daily quiet time with God. Use our talents & money to expand His kingdom. Worry about the salvation of your immediate families, colleagues & relatives & friends - so much that you pray for them with tears in your eyes. If we continue to do this everyday of our lives , the almighty creator of heaven & earth will flood His blessings on our lives & families.

Now i like everyone to think about this - if the above couple or my younger brother , even though they serve God so diligently, also embarks in a little gambling like 4D or TOTO, do you think God will bless him with en-bloc or riches? Remember God looks at the heart, if there is even a tiny drop of greed, He will not let greed be satisfied!!!

I can sensed God's awesome presence here in our midst as we share stuffs that glorify His name, stuffs that re-affirm His great mercy & grace upon our sinful nature. Stuffs that encourage each other to walk in paths of righteous for His name's sake. Stuffs that encourage each other to grow in faith & walk closer with our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ.

 

Let's continue to sow seeds objectively & expand His kingdom diligently as what Jesus commanded in Mark 16:15.

tt6389, not contridicting you here. But for us mortal man never allow sin to have a small foothold in your heart is impossible. Because of Adam's fall, we will always fall into sin. Jesus does'nt want us to be sin-conscious, but righteousness conscious. That's why he told us to 'seek ye first the kingdom of God and HIS (daddy God's) righteousness, and all these things (that we desire) will be added unto you.'

 

If man is able to never allow sin to have a small foothold in your heart, man is perfect and Jesus would'nt have to come. But Jesus came for sinful man, that's why we take on his robes of righteousness and he takes our dirty, robes of filthy sin. That through Jesus sacrifice, we are blessed in every way.

 

In the gospels, Jesus never told those who came to him, "sin no more, then your sins are forgiven". He told them, "your sins are forgiven, sin no more". Man has been sin-concious after Adam fell, we're concious of dust, and dust is the devil's food. Because the snake was cursed to eat dust on it's belly.

 

There's 2 sayings that have been widely accepted by many Christians:

1. God those who help themselves

2. What would Jesus do?

 

1. God helps those who CANNOT help themselves. If we could save ourselves, would Jesus need to come? Because we are unable to help ourselves, Jesus is here as our saviour, to be our redeemer from the curse of sin and in every situation

 

2. By asking ourselves what would Jesus do, we become self-concious and through our own mortal understanding, act our what we think Jesus would do.

 

Jesus wants us to see what he does, and be holy spirit-led. That's what the holy spirit is here for, to be our guide, helper and point us to Jesus

 

When Jesus is our focus, all will fall into place.

I know I am a hopeless sinner but I also know that by His grace I am saved.

 

Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith —and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—

Eph 2:9 not by works, so that no one can boast.

 

We aim to live our lives as He would have us live in response to this great gift of salvation through His Son - not to earn the slavation.

 

Worth repeating
