I think if you going to change your conrod, might as well change your bearings and your piston too.. Since you're going to have to pay $180 for workmanship, even if you change 1 thing or many, might as well change everything.. So when your bike is out, it will be problemfree..

I did the whole overhaul carp when i got my bike too.. no problems, except wear and tear parts... and my accident of course..

tks for ur advice bro... but heng at the meetup, i noticed all the mitos, including the fz yellow mito had the same clanking sound when idling.... even louder than mine! phew....

but nonetheless, i'm gonna save up a sum of money juz in case... and since now i had trouble kicking in neutral when idling, amin commented it might be my clutch dats need tightning... and so far not much problems, other than the alarm wiring dats not done correctly, wear & tear components & stuff.

clanking sound its that your clutch assembly never fix with timing relations to the crankshaft.

after changing a new set of clutch plates, gear o il and all, i still find my gear doesnt engage when i downshift.. :weep:

funny thing is dat i noticed most of the mitos at the meetup had the same clanking sound... even the new yellow fz mito...

actually not a crankling sound, sounds more like a light scrapping & tapping, which softens when the clutch is engaged... should be the clutch rite? nothing to do wit the engine components....

koz all the while i've been revving the bike pretty high on rd, as pointed out by richard.... and dats explains y the fuel consumption was so high... :cheeky:

If i'm not wrong, this is the sound my neighbour (KIPS rider) pointed out to me last week. He said the sound was a bit funny, but he told me he's not familiar with MITO, so he asked me to check it out. Hmmm....any serious prob here?

tks, was gonna let racewerks to check it out... was quoted $100+???

juz for tightening & adjusting the clutch cover?

btw how to wash the cone type air filter? rinse wit water & air dry? or have to use some special fluid? :help:

sometimes from neutral i cant engage to 1st too... i kick down hard few times but there's no clicking sound, though sometimes the neutral light goes off. but it's still in neutral. wad i do is i rev abit & release the clutch to biting point while stepping down. after engaged to 1st i clutch back again.

or simply to avoid the problem, i rev up a little while clutching in then kick down. and best part is requires little strength & 100% sucess rate.

think smt is very wrong wit my clutch liao.... :weep:

My gear also cannot be kicked to neutral from 1st during a stop, only sometimes but very rare. I just live with it.., for so long liao i either hit to neutral before stopping or stop at gear 1 clutch in. Besides this my gear and clutch worked fine all the way.:cheeky:

wad i mean is that i have to kick to neutral everytime i reach traffic light, and that everytime i down shift to the 1st 3 gears it might slip.

you mean you've already let go of the clutch and the bike wasn't moving?

Johnathan, i think most mito, planet have problem enaging to neutral when stationary. Nothing serious. Just kick to netural b4 you stop can already.

Hmmm but one of our friend who is riding a mito could engage to neutral anytime after he went to tighten or something the clutch.. But best if we can email cagiva company and ask them.

by the way when u stop try to half clutch the bike inch forward a bit and u kick neutral. it works for aprilia and it works for some of the mito i rode before.

Aprilia has the same problem too?

i am not talking abt getting the bike in neutral when stationary.

its hard to kick all e way to first gear from the top gear;

when it reaches from 5th to 4th, sometimes the clutch will slip all e way till maybe 2nd or 3rd..

its irritating when i just change clutch plates less den a week, and this prob was evident b4 i change the plates.

but not after changing the plates gear changing is smoother and does not have any "clanking" sound.

yes, there were tikmes when i let go the clutch the bike is in a "false neutral state", i kick down tiwice no use, kick up end up to maybe 3rd or 4th gear instead.

or you can open throttle a little then kick to neutral... works for my mito... heard its common.. so normally i kick neutral b4 stopping...

Gear wear? Does your level come up after stepping it down? Or it just stuck at the lowest point?

actually when i 1st got my bike, it had problems kicking to neutral when stopped. it's not dat the neutral cant be found, is kicking from 1st to 2nd or 2nd back to 1st requires alot of strength! so much my foot hurts after i got home!

so boh bian, juz be4 the bike came to a stop i have to kick to neutral liao.

got a time i read up the planet's thread, the old guru highly recommend using the motul transoil expert 10w40. but it was not easily found these few days. then i saw this motul factoryline 10w40. same thickness so i give it a try.

man, it works like a charm! the shifting of the gears are silky smooth, and shifting to neutral when stopped is done easily wit light taps at the 1st try! it is really dat good! but after abt 2 weeks of riding, it's back to harsh shifting again... :giddy:

had tried the recommended gearbox oil from fm, no gd, harsh shifting.

and so it makes me think whether using thicker grade oil would enhance the shifting. so yest i changed to maxima 5w50 oil. shifting to neutral is pretty gd, but not dat easily as the 10w40 oil which i changed be4. would use for next 2 weeks to c if the performance & would try the 15w50 if possible.

btw stingrhea, wads the defination of clutch slip? the clutch wun engaged properly?

Posted

ya~ downshifting clutch wun engage properly. i using 10w 40w. alot better den transmission/gear oils. the bike will always mis-engage gear into a neutral like mode.

haha... dats wad i'm experiencing too... would changing to a thicker oil helps? like a 15w50? think smt is worn out liao, koz oni recently i experience clutch slip. then last nite my low fuel guage spoilt!

the amber lights stayed on even the tank is full!!

any solutions? haiz... :giddy:
