I checked out the Hougang clubFITT gym after work just now. Big space but too little equipments. Rather packed also. The admission fee of $2.50 per entry is sure pulling in the crowds. I guess I will start training at SPANS after all. After training, can go swimming... :cheer:

Guys, need advice.

I been taking creatine as the only supplement during my trainings, and although I do get that boost in cardio training, running, etc. I am not really building up muscle mass. Should I "up" my protein intake and lower my carbos?

A friend of mine told me to whack egg whites, like alot of them? Is that healthy?

Cheers

Creatine should be supplemented with protein to build up size. What I used to do is, I would consume an EAS Mass Factor protein shake an hour before training and immediately after training, I would take Cell-tech creatine. About 10 minutes later, I would drink 350ml of plain water. Upon arriving home about an hour later, I would consume another protein shake. After the loading phase, I actually can see the difference within two weeks. Added on weight and size plus strength.

Egg whites are a great source of cheap protein. I used to eat about 20 egg whites a day during my heydays. It is safe to consume that many egg whites cos egg whites are protein. Egg yolks are the ones with cholesterol. However, it can be very :sian: to eat egg whites day in and day out. :faint:

I remember in 2004 when eggs were bloody expensive cos of the eggs banned from Malaysia due to the bird flu epidemic, the hardcore bodybuilders ranted and raved cos their cheapest source of protein suddenly became their most expensive source of protein overnight...

I started my first training session at SPANS yesterday. Entrance fee is $2 and the equipmets at the gym are quite decent and the gym itself is rather spacious. Not that packed also. Trained chest and shoulders and now my body is damn sore...

cardio will burn fat not build mass. during fat buring, u may lose a bit of valuable muscle mass.

to build mass=bigger/heavier weights, more nutritious food, the RIGHT supplements is the answer. stop the cardio if u want mass.

taking a supplement that says will create mass and strength alone not enough and never will be enough. your exercise has to be very intense/heavy. food intake and most important thing-rest. give your body a chance to rest to recover. muscle building takes place outside the gym, not while in the gym.

becareful when loading up. never train properly will make u fat.

For size, the best product I tried last time was ProLab N-Large2 (chocolate flavour). It tastes damn delicious and I gained 5kg in weight and mass from 2 tubs of the product. It retails for $90 plus at Nature's Farm... :thumb:

Here's a picture and a writeup of the product.

http://www.sportsnutritioncanada.com/shop/usrimage/cat443.jpg

N-Large II is a powerful mass gaining formula designed to pack size on the hardest gainers. This potent formula delivers more calories and protein gram for gram. Prolab puts an emphasis on the amount of protein per serving since it is the only nutrient proven to assist in promoting muscle mass.

Prolab uses only cross flow, micro filtered, cold processed ion exchanged whey protein. This protein has a superior amino acid profile, an unbeatable bioavailability, is low in lactose and is instantized for easy mixing without a blender.

You simply will not find a protein of this grade used in other weight gain formulas. Prolab has avoided overloading its formula with carbohydrates. Prolab uses just enough to help fuel your workouts and replenish depleted glycogen stores, but not enough to cause drowsiness.

Studies show that too many carbohydrates increases the levels of serotonin crossing over the brain barrier, thereby inducing drowsiness. Fat, although shunned by some, is highly concentrated energy source (double that of protein and carbohydrates) supplying the body with fat soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K.

Fat is also a necessary component of all cell membranes, nerve covering, digestive secretions and most importantly, hormone production. A diet too low in fats may actually impair growth .For these reasons, small amounts of necessary dietary fat is contained in N-Large II .

you state down your weight and height then it's easier for ppl to access you whether you should cut the run completely. what kind of sport u do.....etc...... your purpose in weight training.

in general, cardio is good for fat ppl who wants to burn fat/calories.

to gain weight, eat eat eat eat eat and more eat......train train train. do more heavy compound exercise. have good rest.

now i'm going to gym...:faint:

i weight 120kgs standing at 1.8m now, started diet and did swimming a bit one week b4 christmas. hit the gym at least 3 to 4 times a week since new year doing 45 mins stationary bike. did some 2 sets X 15/12 reps basic exercise for most parts of the body. lost 2 kilos. 5 to 6 small meals a day if possible. gonna do this for the next 6 to 8 weeks and see how, if no loss got to change tactic.... :faint:

start off gaining strenght and train with higher intensity, slowly increase the weights you are lifting. do compound exercise. decrease your cardio abit. eat if you want a bigger built. take more proteins. monitor 6 to 8 weeks.

train, eat and rest.

*your milage may vary

but if u are runner, i don't think u want to increase weight.

Thanks for the replies, so I should keep the cardio low for a bit, and do more weight training, got it!

As for protein intake I wish to stick to the "natural" path for a while, what is a good protein rich food?

1) red meat (beef)

2) Egg whites

3) fish?

Cheers
