Hi, anyone knows what's the penalty for riding without road tax? How many demerit points and how much fine?

How do they catch u? Do u only get caught if u were stop by TP or ROV? Passing ERP gantry will tio or not? Or u dun ride at all they also know?

Practical Test Checklist:

√ Sudden and late braking

√ Faulty signal lights

√ Superb use of horn

√ Assume road belongs to father

√ Never at fault no matter what happens

√ Tailgating confidence

Result: YES! You qualify to become a Singapore car driver!

If less than one month expiry, still can pay. However, if less than 3 months, suspension. If more than 3 months, suspension plus vehicle towed away.

If insurance expired, suspension.....

So better not muck around this.... Even if you're not caught by TP/ROV, the penalties are too high to risk it...

pay as in? fine or more expensive road tax? here's the story:

I bought a bike from shop on 17th June. I trade in my old bike. They told me will take 7-10 days for the bike to be ready which i think maximum is 27th June.

My road tax expires 28th June. Till today (26th June) they still haven call me and when I called them yesterday (25th June) they say not ready. No point i buy another 1/2 yr road tax for them right?

Let's put it in scenario. If you're not riding the bike yet, it's still ok. You have up to 3 months to renew it provided you don't ride it. If you do not intend to ride the bike & do not wish to renew the road tax, the bike has to be laid off thru LTA. If you don't lay off the bike & don't renew road tax after 3 months, LTA will tow the bike away if they find it.

The rule is, as long as you don't have road tax or insurance cover, you cannot ride the bike.

If you are really worried, just stop riding & lay up your bike now. Cost you less than $10

you know, it doesnt matter whether is it a few days or for a few months...

you can get caught via the following means.

1) someone called and complain (unlikely, unless got enemy).

2) police road block

3) lta, rov or police spot check (on the road).

Though chances are small, but the penalties are stiff. So, to me not worth it.

The rules have changed.

Past one day from the road tax, is already fine, no more allowance of 7 days.

Then again, the road tax is expired, you tink bike shop will keep quiet and absorb it? Wat more, got a fine of $10...

Guys, lets say u bought a new bike from a motor tiam, then u have yet to recieve ur road tax but u have already paid it. So, in this case if there's a road block, will u be charged for riding without road tax?
