I have been in this forum for sometime but have not seen or heard much talking about this model. Even on the road I seldom see this model. I am just wondering how many owners are there in this forum. Hope we can exchange some experience about this model over here and do some gathering.

Some other forum talking about this model:

I have a black R1150R - with extremely low mileage. Most of the time im riding my Vespa!!

Posted

I've seen quite a few R1100R ... and R1150Rs I've seen 2 outside of PML. The older R1100R are now being put on the market; and to me the lines of the bike is classic and stylish.

Most BMW bikes in Singapore are of the GS variety; at one stage I thought that the R1100S is rare; but recently quite a few came out for sale.

Would love a gathering of these bikes.

Cheers

currently my ride is R1100R and I love it very much. I guess its a bike that not many people will want to consider because of its look. Usually people always go for good looking bikes or performance or fuel efficency or less maintanence hazards...

But at least we have a few RR riders... hope we can see more and have some meetup somedays...

The R1150R is said to be the most versetile of BMW Steet bikes right?

Dunno if they're gonna put the new 1200cc engine inside. Anyways, the newer F800S is getting some very good reviews.

The new F800S is really a new talking topic now in a few forum.

whereas for R1200R, there are 2 saying from other forum, one saying is end of this year another saying is next year during spring season.

Dunno if its the most versatile but it eat corners for breakfast. stable though when i first got it, was not use to the boxer engine. The lateral action of the pistons tend to pull the bike to the side at standstill. But once in motion....SWEET!!

Yap, I do agreed that when the bike is in neutral, as you throttle, the bike will tilt to the right side due to the centrifugal force created.

For me I don't really dare to corner too much with this bike because I am still not very comfortable with the piston head cylinder too near the ground while cornering. But I have seen others taking corner with this bike without problem. I guess its the rider after all and not the bike.

Anyone had modded the bike? I am interested in getting a very big windshield but can't really find one. I have seen picture from other forum stating that we can fix a small shield just in front of the foot peg on the cylinder head to prevent water from splashing up to the leg.

Yes .... I believe that Wunderlich makes a shield for the R1100R; but it'll cost since Wunderlich's products are quality stuff and not cheap. check with M-technic.

The F800 is getting a lot of good reviews. The bike is BMW's strategy to get converts (they do not have problems getting repeat customers) and it seems to have paid off.

Christian Pfeiffer won a Stunt-Riding Championship (see http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2006...F800SStunt.htm) on a mainly stock bike (except for gearing and rear wheelie bar, I think).

Funny think is that for me, a true BMW bike has to be a Boxer. It's like a Ducati has to be a L or V-twin. That would be the biggest factor dissuading me from getting one.

As for the R1200R, the R1150R owners are waiting with bated breath; maybe they'll skip the 1200 version, like they skipped the R1150S.

Cheers

Who knows? I guess they really might skip... now every brand is trying very hard in getting the best name and BMW was heard of going to GP.... Well.... God knows...

Anybody modded exhaust for their Beemers? Looking at doing the exhaust. Stock exhaust sounds very gay. Anything to make it sound meaner?

bro, You can try staintune, because the previous owner of my bike fixed a staintune but upon selling, he remove the exhaust. I am not very particular about the sound of the bike, because I slowly like the silent of the pipe...

Puig? That's carried by Regina, isn't it?

Hey, Suicide .... try Laser exhaust from BikeTeck 21 ... i think that now many brands are legal, so chances are you would be able to get a decent exhaust for your bike. I know a fren who has a Laser on his R1100R, sounded mean, plus the kilos that he lost ... sweet.

Guys Bike teck 21 is at Dunlop St right?

I think its one street behind dunlop street called the Mayo street.

From Jalan Besar, you turn right at Mayo street towards Perak street and Bike tech 21 will be on the left hand side. You would't miss it because there is a small motorbikes parking lots for 4 to 5 bikes in front of the shop.
