If you guess wrongly, you may ruin your engine. If your filter is stock, then it is very unlikely that it is the washable type.

K&N filter element is made out of cloth but the filtering property is actually a layer of oil on the cloth itself. Of course K&N is the famous brand that makes washable air filters

read from somewhere in the forum someone used petrol to wash his air filter, I had tried it for my open pod and it works without damaging it.

There was once I tried using kerosene and the bike feels chocked.

guess petrol should be okay as your filter would definitely come in contact with petrol fumes during operation. But do wear gloves, petrol is carcinogenic.

but if you're using the stock paper filter, I recommend that you just throw it away and get a new 1.

as aftermkt one can be washable and reuse, the lifespan is longer compare to those oem one wif fibre or cloth as medium. Choosing aftermkt will be more economical.. :)

The decision for after-market air filters is more for performance than for lower life-cycle cost.

You can throw in reuseability as an important factor if one is anal about environmental conservation. :D

Buying an after-market air filter, such as K&N, is not just an one time cost as you would still need to buy the re-charge kit to keep the filter element effective after every wash.

For scramblers , some soak it in some chemical n dry them for reuse...

How much does the kit cost? It can be use for a few times. Oem filter hav almost the same property as k&n in terms of high flow and filter purposes. That y some brand like bmc hav normal and race type. :)

is located beneath the petrol tank..

hav to remove the tank, u will find a black rectangular box..

the filter is in that box..

here are total of 6 screws to unsecure the cover off the box..

there go yr filter..
