Hi, I have a problem of melting CDI. Some orangy honey like substances are found on my exhaust. I still can ride and start my bike. Mechanic told and showed me the melting CDI. Cost of replacing a CDI is about 400+ but he say no need to change at the moment. Only the casing melting.

Anyone encountered this problem before? What did u guys do? Will the CDI become faulty eventually? This problem is bothering me a lot now.. zz

think is not heat generated from the CDI that melts it.. is the heat it received from the bike that melts it..

most of these problem inherit from rectifier on HONDA cbr ,S4 PB1 , rvf & Vfr 400.

always get the correct rectifier for your bike model , other model look the same will fit the same but will cause your wire ,cdi & coil to burn out .

Yellow substance is silicon like material placed on your cdi board to prevent water from corroding the board . the best is to check the rectifier .

i wrap my whole cdi up with aluminium foil and medical bandages and plaster.. now the whole thing looks "wounded"
