I want to know more about the riding life in SG. I coming from another country and i want to know some question. If you guys answer these, my million thanks for you.

1. Can i change my license from my country with 2A or which one can i change?

(as far as i know, i can change but i need to answer some basic test, is that correct?)

2. After i get my license, i prefer to buy SP150 (if i can't get 2A directly) Honda. So can i customize that bike? is there any law against that? i mean bigger exhaust(for example, yoshi exhaust), modified paint job, full airbrush, etc. do i need to get permit for them?

3. And also i want to know about the process for buying bike (from shop and from other hands). Which things i need to buy a bike? (of course, money is 1st thing :p )

4. One of my friend told me i can get car driving license and bike license together. Can anyone clearify this? How to take a exam for that?

5. If i still don't get my license yet, can i ride around with my friend's bike? is that easy to catch? :p (it's just for a knowledge hehe) Related with this question, i want to know how the police catch up without license driver?

I think it's enough for now. Later if i still don't know yet, can i count on you guys?

I'm not answering as per sequence.. Too lazy to follow.. hee..

As for bike license conversion, I think you can only convert to 2B, unless you can sweet talk the authorities, but mission impossible..

You can convert both bike and car license by taking a singular basic theory test at any driving centre here...

It's not worth the try to be riding without license/insurance/road tax here.. It's won't be only you getting in trouble, but also the owner of the bike...

You can modify your bike however you want for as long as you can pass thru the inspection test here.. :)

As for the procedure of getting the bike.. hmmm.. pick your desired bike, pay money, sign papers, transfer ownership, settle up insurance, get road tax... and you're out on the roads..

:goodluck: and do correct me if i get my facts wrong somehow..

1. Can i change my license from my country with 2A or which one can i change?

(as far as i know, i can change but i need to answer some basic test, is that correct?)

Ans: I think you only can change directly to 2B unless you got a long riding exp which can be verified by the traffic police dept of singapore.

2. After i get my license, i prefer to buy SP150 (if i can't get 2A directly) Honda. So can i customize that bike? is there any law against that? i mean bigger exhaust(for example, yoshi exhaust), modified paint job, full airbrush, etc. do i need to get permit for them?

Ans: For SP it's illegal to mod the exhaust pipe, you only can use the original honda pipe. For Singapore, it's illegal to mod the engine also but if you wanna do that don't get caught. As for the others, sure why not, but best to go to the NSR SP150 forum to ask around first before you start doing things and get your bike towed away by ROV or TP.

3. And also i want to know about the process for buying bike (from shop and from other hands). Which things i need to buy a bike? (of course, money is 1st thing :p )

Ans:

1. You must have a valid license.

2. You must have a valid insurance.

3. Best is to get another forumer to go with you cos sometimes you go to the bike shop will become a carrot (chop you money out of you).

4. You must know the areas where you can get cheap bike items (e.g. LAB, Regina, motoworld, etc.)

4. One of my friend told me i can get car driving license and bike license together. Can anyone clearify this? How to take a exam for that?

Ans:

1. Unless you got a driving or riding license in your country then you can convert cos class 3 (car) and class 2b (bike) is 2 different things. But if you wanna take your class3 and class 2b at the same time it's possible.

5. If i still don't get my license yet, can i ride around with my friend's bike? is that easy to catch? :p (it's just for a knowledge hehe) Related with this question, i want to know how the police catch up without license driver?

Ans:

Haha this one i think you better not. Lately Traffic Police (TP) have been setting up a lot of road blocks lately and juz hope you don't get caught.. Once caught is a hefty fine + a pban on driving or riding. Usually the police is random in stopping pple, unless you are a reckless rider/driver then they will stop you no matter what.. And also another thing, there is a lot of speed/red light cams around so if you break them, you know what will happen. Singapore is a small place..

Yes it's possible to convert both class 2B and 3. Whether they want to give you 2A/2, depends on how long your riding experience is in your native country.

To convert, you are to pass the Basic Theory Test (BTT), pay $50 for the photo card license, and your good to go.

I converted my license(s) in 2006.

April 2008 - Present = White Stallion V 2.0 :thumb:

As the previous guys said, can change but you will need to pass some theory test, classes of license issued to you depends.

2. After i get my license, i prefer to buy SP150 (if i can't get 2A directly) Honda. So can i customize that bike? is there any law against that? i mean bigger exhaust(for example, yoshi exhaust), modified paint job, full airbrush, etc. do i need to get permit for them?

Modified Paintjob and airbrush is ok but i think you cannot have brands of Marlboro / Salem (Cigarettes brand) etc for your paintwork. Yoshi Exhaust etc are most probably illegal.

3. And also i want to know about the process for buying bike (from shop and from other hands). Which things i need to buy a bike? (of course, money is 1st thing :p )

Bike price ($), Transfer owndership ($), Insurance($), Roadtax($), Season parking($).

If you buy at the shop, they will do most of the things for you, except Season parking.

4. One of my friend told me i can get car driving license and bike license together. Can anyone clearify this? How to take a exam for that?

Not Sure.

5. If i still don't get my license yet, can i ride around with my friend's bike? is that easy to catch? :p (it's just for a knowledge hehe) Related with this question, i want to know how the police catch up without license driver?

No you absolutely cannot. The police sets up road block, you get stopped and they check for your license, insurance and roadtax etc...hmmm if im not wrong, you ride a 2B bike and they drive a Subaru.... o_O

I think it's enough for now. Later if i still don't know yet, can i count on you guys?

It is transferrable. But you need 2 insurance, 2 roadtax, 1 for each bike.

If you have no money to get a second insurance, roadtax then you can choose to layup the Phantom.

Alternatively like what the others said, layup your YBR, get insurance rebate, then buy insurance and roadtax for Phantom.

I am not sure if roadtax can rebate or not and i heard insurance is pro-rated at a max of 80% or something like that.

Don't be stupid and don't be an irresponsible rider. Get your licence and insurance before riding. Everybody else here bothers to go through the trouble and expense to get our licences and pay for insurance. Please do the same. We don't want to get into an accident with an unlicensed rider and cannot claim insurance.

Yes the police will catch and charge you, as well as the bike owner. After fine and jail they will deport you.
