When you say your bikes Batt went low for the past week, how did you know? Did you use a mutimeter to measure? how are the lights? Dim? None?

One note on Batteries, when they are nearing the end of their chemically-dictated life, no amount of charging or jump starting is going to rejuvenate it, so dun have the wrong impression. The best solution is to replace it asap if its really flat.

 

2ndly, electrical rectifiers do not make noises la. Unless its crackling and melting under high heat generated from current oversurges. :lol:

Remove the tail fairing, do a visual check on the rectifier for burnt marks.

 

I suspect the "TA TA TA" sound u hear did not come from the rectifier. Its actually the starter relay contacts latching when u push the start button. Its located near the battery compartment.

 

There is a way to rule out magnetic coil.

Use a multimeter, set to OHMS.

Disconnect your Rectifier connector. identify the pins that each have a yellow wire attached to it. There are 3 yellow wires. Measure 2 of this at a time using the multimeter probes. the readings u get should be around 1 ohm, btw any of the yellow wires.

U are actually measuring the windings of the magnetic coil output this way.

 

Next, if all turns out well, suspect the carbon starter.

When it doesnt start again.... clutch in, kick bike to 2nd gear,let clutch out, roll bike backwards. Clutch in, press starter button again to start. If it starts this way, your carbon brush is worn and should be replaced.

regarding the dimming of light i saw tt my neutral light went abit dimmer den usual...

 

and my rectifiler i tink is belong to S4 de cos its smaller in size

u try to change the recflier see can or not sometime i just the recflier have problem

a more update pic of my bike after the heavy crash and sliding for 40plus m. 40 bucks spent on diy repair.

 

will update crash pics soon

last time my friend bike got similar problem. he also using s4 rec.

 

everytime he start bike, must pull put head light socket(no on/off sw).

 

i have a proper battery charger at home. i can charge for u if u want

holiday plaza there got sell...to stick on ur rim is not hard u must have the heart to stick on to ur rim...think the sticker is cheap

if go low budget ... i think less than 150 bucks for front suspension... 80 bucks for tuning .. but there till got more cheaper tuning but skill not so good:sian:

u fork seal bocho already. need to take the fork apart for labour.

 

when u say tuning, r u referring to cleaning and balancing the carbs or full tune for max performance.

 

cleaning and balancing is cheap.

full tune 80 bucks.

 

stock silencer- no need to tune 1

 

u change to 2 brother?

i bought a line of reflective sticker from aunty shop and cut to size my self. about 1 cm width. i think 1.5 cm would have been better.

 

got ready made 1 also.

my friend sticker shop. he measure until siow.

 

it is a 2 layer sticker. red on white

Hello,

 

Dun think u wana jump to conclusions so soon about the rectifier till after you have carried out the troubleshooting.

 

U dun wana be led a big circle, waste $$ changing serviceable items when you have not yet arrested the real culprit in this electrical snag.

 

Healthy rectifers will output 13 to 15.5V across the battery terminals with ignition on and RPM at 5000RPM. As you rev the bike up, voltage will increase uniformly up to about 14 or 15V indicating that the rectifier is good. if volatge did not increase with RPM.....high chance rectifier.

 

With bike electrics turned off, healthy batteries should measure 12 to 13.2V. BAtteries with 10V and less can throw away liao as it has oredy began a chemical death called deep cycle sulphating.

 

U mentioned also u changed the battery only 6months? Dun rule that out becoz its only 6 months. Sometimes, improper inititial charging or frequent short interval rides can kill the battery faster than u can say REALLY VERY FAST.
