is not that simple.. i have emailed LTA enquiring about aftermarket exhausts and got the reply as follow....

Dear Sir,

Aftermarket Exhaust for Motorcycles

FEEDBACK NUMBER: 353700

Please refer to your enquiry of 21/04/2006.

We would like to inform you that LTA allows the replacement of after-market

exhaust system, as long as it does not adversely affect the safe operation

and/or exhaust emissions characteristics of the vehicle, or compromise the

safety of vehicle occupants and other road users. The after-market exhaust

system should be specifically designed for that particular vehicle make and

model and be installed by a qualified person in accordance with the product

manufacturer~s recommendation.

To date, LTA has approved the use of 31 brands of after-market exhaust

systems which include 8 brands for motorcycle. They are Yoshimura, Micron,

Lazer, Akrapovic, Arrow, GPR, Remus and LeoVince. These after-market

exhaust systems have undergone testing, either by the vehicle manufacturer

or by independent test laboratories, and have shown to comply with

internationally recognised standards that they would not affect the safe

operation or exhaust emissions of the vehicles. Every unit of such exhaust

systems will come with either an EEC or JMCA certificate to show that it is

suitable to be installed for that particular vehicle make and model.

To clarify, we would require the following documents for our evaluation and

approval to install after-market exhaust systems:

(a) Technical specifications and installation details of the after-market

exhaust system, including pictures or drawings;

(b) Certification from the exhaust manufacturer to show that the

replacement exhaust system is suitable to be fitted to your vehicle, and

that it would not adversely affect the safe operation and exhaust emission

characteristics of the vehicle; and

© Evidence or test reports to show that the replacement exhaust system

has been manufactured and tested according to international recognised

standards.

:bounce: thanks for the info~~

so i guess i gotta show the stuff to lta first b4 bringing it for inspection.

he check n told me i dun have any records with the LTA when i did have! he told me if he check and i dun have records with LTA, he will bring me back to a inspection centre...not giving me any chance to explain he bring me to a inspection centre to issue me a summon...

Ya welcome to the party, an aftermarket exhaust never fails to thrill. It should be the no 1 item to install in a sportsbike.

Sep 02 to Oct 02- Black Cagiva Planet (1 word Lousy)

Oct 02 to Oct 03- Yellow RXZ133 (Too light for me)

Oct 03 to Mar 05- White Purple CBR 400RR (Not enough style & power)

Mar 05 to Dec 06- Red CBR 1000RR (Wonderful except the magnetic coil issue)

Dec 06- Dec 07- Black VFR 800 (Good bike but not my style, thks for the memories)

Dec 07- Black GSX1000K8 (Nothing else to say except Damn good)

i don't think so...

if u forget to bring the cert, they will check back with their side

or they take pics of ur bike

if the lta system shows no record of approval then u'll b summon for modified exh.

if your approved exhaust had been tampered with(silencer/ baffle removed) u'll b summon for tampered approved type xhaust.

I bring the NRIC of the owner of the bike but does the owner need to be there?
