First of all, READ THE OWNER'S MANUAL.

Second, 98 is not more powerful than 95 or 95 more powerful than 92.

the higher the octane number means the higher the fuel can be compressed before it self ignites (before the spark plug can ignite it). this is called premature ignition and can damage engines.

if your engine is designed to take 95 then don't go lower than 95. you can use 98 but it won't increase your mileage or give you more horsepower. it only makes you poorer.

take your time to read this if you're interested:

http://www.streetdirectory.com/travel_guide/52061/mileage_and_fuel/what_are_gasoline_octane_ratings.html

manufacturers conduct hundreds of hours of testing to find the optimum octane rating for the engines so it's best to follow their recommendations and not listen to hearsay or so-called "experience".

when i used to drive, 98 and 95 gave the same mileage on my car. powerwise, it doesn't matter because when u drive a suzuki swift, a WRX can still outrun you on 95 even if you put in 98.

likewise, a Swift using 98 is just as fast as one using 95.

so, READ THE OWNER'S MANUAL.

Unless you have touched your engine, stay at 95.

Read the owner's manual.

Try both 95 & 98 see which type suit you better. Different rider have different riding styles.

nothing to do with riding styles. like i mentioned in my earlier post, the different octanes are to suit different engine specifications, NOT rider specifications. don't teach people the wrong things can or not?

wah.. soo defensive.. chill ar! petrol only mah ... i think everybody here saw ur post ..

:cheeky: not defensive la. just don't understand why so many people have the idea that the higher the octane the more power or the better mileage.

and then they try to convince others based on their "experience" which is total unscientific bs.

if they want power than get a class 2 licence and buy a hayabusa.

if they want economy then get a 70cc kup kia and make sure they properly inflate their tyres, maintain their bikes, don't put box and don't go above 70kmh.

if they think they can get more power or better economy by simply topping up on high octane fuel than it's their wish. not my money anyway wat.

Higher octane burns faster. thus you get slightly better combustion
