Planet would be a good choice.... i enquired about overhauling a S4 though... not cheap... in the region of 1k... what bike do you want to overhaul?? Number of pistons etc etc all affects the price...

Posted

Have you ever overhaulled at Planet?

1k quite ex hor...

Wondering when overhaulling when do they do or change?

Btw, my bike is bandit 400v

Recently I brought it to change rear brake pad at power motor, but then I realize when I manually spin the rear tyre, there is metal sounds against each other, which I suspect the disc brake. It shouldn't give any noise when I tried that right? (gota bring back to them soon, sianz)

Yeah 1k is quite ex but i trust their workmanship. No i have not overhauled at planet... at least not yet and hopefully not. To me, i rather pay that 1k than i pay a few hundred but problems not solved or they do half *****....

I personally encountered a bike shop which never get things done unless u keep going back to pester them... Go back until sian...

The sound might be your brake pads also... bring back for a check lor... If its those squeaky sounds, most probably is the brake dust .... i dun think its anything much...

Overhauling i think some parts change some parts wash only... cant expect everything also new... unless you willing to pay more... but i think piston this kinda thing is new one...

Btw, i dunno SP cost how much. Call Ah Chong at 67474740 to enquire. Should be a few hundred ba... not that expensive...

bro lawbah,

went back to workshop during lunch, they said it's normal coz the brake pad is new.. give it some time he said..

Do you happen to experience before this.. when bike is moving but not putting any acceleration, the foot rest at the gear side vibrates quite a bit, at least can feel something is moving (don't know how to explain, hope similar case been experienced before), it's irritating. When speed this thing doesn't appear, only when not putting accelarion, especially when moving slower, not during fast speed.

I want to send for overhaul, but got any with budget around 400-500 rather? hehe.. coz bike is old liao, so don't think wana invest too much on it, as long after the cheap overhaul can have a better ride feeling happy liao :D

btw bro, which workshop do you normally go to?

My bike is bandit 400v, it's 2A bike.

U ever do your bike in JBs? I thought of going down JB tomorrow night, some threads discussing about ah gua lane at the last few shop or so... will see see look look lor..

@ steel_headz,

That's the whole thing, to be frank i oso don't know y overhaul? LOL

Only learned from the mechanic afer overhaul u'll feel your bike with better handling (speed, etc.), another word to describe is just like new (ofcoz won't be new la). That's why me not willing to pay too much lor...

Anyway, as long as bike can kia no complain la, but only thing irritated me was the noise, hiaz... don't know if gear got problem makes such noise onot, haven't the right mechanic to identify exactly.

actually TS, if your bike needs an overhaul (i assume it is an old bike), chances are after spending say $1k on the overhaul job, other parts will start to fail you one by one which in the end, it may not be cost effective to own the bike after all.... You must do your own maths to decide.

May 2005 - July 2007: Honda Phantom TA200 (FU 3*** S)

July 2007 - Dec 2016: Honda CB400 Spec III (FBB 7***X)

Dec 2016 - Aug 2017: Yamaha FZ1N (FBD 4***E)

Aug 2017 - Present: Kawasaki Z1000SX (FBF 6***B)

Haha that's why after i owned an SP i will now buy bikes with in a 5 year range.. Cos i had to overhaul the whole engine and also redo all the brakes, wiring, etc which cost a lot a lot as SP is an old bike.. So must really spend to upkeep it to tip top condition..

yea that's right.

The bike is in its 1.5 COE lifespan, so ya no doubts it's old :b

Even sending for some minor replacement, now seems to be giving other problems liao (initially thought may resolve after overhaul)..

Guess just ride it as is lor.

But the thing is very irritating of the noises it made and the vibration that can obviously felt on the left foot rest. Any chance to recommend which mechanic is likely able to identify and solve it? :s

Try looking for a mech named ah heng @ ga motor.

they are excellent with engine overhauls.

if can solve they'll solve. if not their engine overhaul price is v.worth it.

blk 32, sin ming drive. address should be #01-331 :D
