Hi guys,

I'm riding a spark 135 and just changed my sprocket n chain about a week ago. After a few days of riding, a weird "Clicking" sound started coming from the rear half of my bike. It wasn't present before. Went back to the mechanic and he said that the chain was abit too tight so he loosened it for me. Things were ok for another few days. Now the sound came back. It usually comes when i'm moving off and coming to a stop & becomes more pronounced when I have a pillion.

Also,my suspension is super soft kos it's spoiled. Dunno whether this is the cause of the sound. Anyone can help?

Regards,

try to push the below portion of the chain and check whether the chain can touch the swing arm..

if yes, there are clicking sound when u ride as the chain hit the swing arm..

as for suspension too soft will induce more strain to the chain and cause it to wear faster..

changed to a smaller rear sprocket and a new front sprocket of the same size.

my suspension has been soft even before the sprocket change and it's never made that sound.

pushed the lower part of the chain and it doesn't touch the swingarm.

thanx for the replies so far

Check if your sprocket teeths are bent.

Ok will check it out later.

Maybe it's low tensions of ur Chain? have it been tighten recently?

I went to the mechanic when the sound first appeared. He said that the chain was too tight so he loosened it for me.Rode ard for a few days and everything was fine. Now the sound came back again

Replace whole set if all fails. Not That ex also, if not just use first.

Maybe I will.I'm afraid that it'll damage the bike.

chain slider.....there's a chain guard......

chain slider is a rubber thing that located on the swing arm. it is to allow the chain to slide along the swing arm and prevent abrasion due to the moving chain..

some bikes hav it, some dun..

is yr chain guard aftermkt?? check that the screws attaching the guard is not too long or the chain guard is out of shape..

Unequal elongation of the chain.

Chain tension or play is not just checked at one position. Rotate the rear wheel half a turn and check again. Do it at least 3 times.

You will find that at certain times the chain has just the right play, turn the wheel and the play can go more or less. That is unequal elongation of the chain.

All bikes chain suffer from this... because of stretching during sudden accelerations or decelerations over time. Such chains tend to whip up and down when on the move.

Your noise may be coming from that. Replace the chain and the noise will go away.. no amount of adjustment is going to solve the problem.

And please... don't ever cut the chain to make it fit after it has been stretched to its adjustment limits. The pitch is already elongated it does not sit well in the sprockets.. and severe wear of the sprocket teeth will start immediately on the driving side of the teeth.

That is why you see some sprockets worn until the teeth look curved like hooks.

BTW it is cheaper to replace chains than sprockets.

I use to ride a spark. However, there is a problem with the wheel hub or bearing with some of the Sparks in general. I had tis problem but it comes and goes. It is more prominent with pillion and corners. do check it. Juz my input maybe it is due to tat.
