Hi ... new here

Been riding S4Vtec for pass 2 years 6 mths and had experience some of the problems stated in the forum.

Problem 1 - Engine Dies when I clutch in during corning to change to lower gear or when about to stop. Went to Maxspeed to service, he open the air valve more and ok but after 1 to 2 mths, problem come back again.

Problem 2 - Petrol Consumption seems to be high 19.5 to 19.6km/litres.

I suspect is my spark plug. BTW, anyone can tell me what is a carb? I am blur down here. Please Englighten me.

Anyone went to Maxspeed before? I found them ok, only Thunder Mah is experience but not really the mechanic. I need a better and more reliable one leh. That shop usually service ST1100 and Goldwings.

try changing 4t 4 plugs n do carbs washing n retune... it could be fuel pump chokage also..

Engine oil too thin and low vecosity.

Spark plug not suitable for CB4 usually due to too much space gap.

Air filter too much air flow that cause your bike lean out, looses torque at bottom end.

Ah koon from where ? Don't think this guy know his shiit. Sorry maybe I am wrong.o_O

That's depot road ah koon...

Hope he can rectify the problem tomorrow ... sh*t spent $125 in all

Can anyone recommend where is a reliable and honest place for a check up?

Overcharge. Should falls below $100 mark...

Yeah. Think that'll be the last time I go there. I went down to HKL at Alexander Village. He found that it was one of the spug plugs. So i just changed the 1 day old plugs! Anyway he told me the spug plugs I got are cheong ones, cos the head is not tapered...

HKL seems knowledgeable abt S4 ... anyone got any comments? They quoted me tuning and washing of carb for $60. Is that ok?

Bro,

you might 1 2 check out what is the grade of the engine oil u changed last time?

it should be 10w40 / 15w40 / 15w50 , with the later number representing the temp the oil can withstand. So in theory if you used a low grade 10w40, you might experience strong heat from the side of the engine, especially when u doing high revs. Suggest you make sure of the grade of the engine oil the next time u change it. request the mech to show u the bottles and making sure the seals are not broken off-not org liao!.

Maybe your water hose is leaking. Better check your coolant level.

Hi all

My front brakes has even braking when I squeeze the brake lever with medium pressure. Is it due to brake pad wear or due to the rake disc warp?

Another problem is my fuel consumption is 20km per litre. Seems very high, although I usually travel at 100km/h on the expressway. Anyone has the same consumption?

Pls advise. Thanks.

Seems quite standard for Vtec bikes Vtec activates at 7K rpm while Vtec2 at 6K rpm monitored my bike since day one about 1litre for every 20 km. Consumption on the high side as compared to version S
