Okay.. lets say u are from SG to Melaka to ipoh.. to hatyai. okay. ample rest. bla bla.

 

1st cost involved, its going to be alot because petrol, 2T and hotel. and knowing your bike is a oldie one.. probably problems will surface like riding for too long over heating... or worst nightmare piston jam and stuff.

 

If you dont mind, or have adventure as your middle name like me, u can go lor. but prepare alot of $$$$....

 

let me share with you.

 

I broke down @ taiping. My nearest host is at KL. so towing from KL to taiping will be RM500. RM 500 is taking long cut, no tolls. if tolls and stuff will be RM800.

 

reaching KL, 500 poorer somemore need to diagnose bike and wait for parts... for me if i got no host.. easily cost me RM 1K and above. why the days for fixing, you need lodging food.. and spares and workmanship.. u know i know la KL not cheap one.

 

 

sometimes it does seems ok la can la chin chye. but u still havent factor in RISK like what if the mech that tends to you takes u for a ride and knock the hell lot of it outta you?

 

basically thats what i am thinking of now la. because msia is damn big, not like Spore.. "helloe u the twa chia one? SGD 25 give u swah from changi to jurong no problem"

 

but this is from another state to another state. in msia. toll fee + petrol = hong kan lo.

 

SO, there is 2 ways of looking at it la. If you got a new bike that needs some mileage, then i say you can go with probably 5 person. Or else, your risk factor is only getting higher and higher and before you know it its gonna hit you, like what happened to me...

probably u can get a flight to BKK and massage till u stim. LOL

ya there is always 2 ways to look at touring. Of cos, I am not encouraging anyone to go blindly. Ample preparation is a must, to noe that not only u urself is ready, ur bike is ready too.

 

And once everything is swee swee, then all u need is the courage n passion to go on. There r many people, due to worry getting robbed, bike breakdown, stolen etc then end up at the end at most go JB...

 

And actualy, frm here to thailand actualy very very short distance nia if compared with some tourers in angmo countries... i met some which traveled frm UK to Vietnam... in a year... everything is possible right... just have to look further...

 

So, what I mean is risk management. As long as u do all the necessary preparation, then wat will happen will be minimised. The rest then leave it to heaven liao.

 

And it is just part n parcel of motorcycling... even riding in SG also got risk of accidents... tio bor?

I correct my earlier post...I will most likely not overhaul...but will try riding it to Koh Samui or somewhere far enough...2B mah...no reason I get a younger 2B bike to do it....so its either do or die trying...for the bike.:cheeky:

what if you bike... breakdown in thailand...

then u go back without bike..

then have to pay the 2000 or 5000 baht penalty

coz go in with bike, come out without bike.

seriously...if my repair bills are going to be so expensive...I'll make the bike disappear lor...cos RM1400 for tow and repair....convert back to SGD...rate of 2.0 for simplicity...is already SGD700 liao...absolutely not worth.I'll take the coach back...got TV to see somemore...:cheeky:

 

I also feel for U...especially when I think ur bike should have quite some years left.

 

but I dont intend to chiong all the way lar.
