We refer to your e-mail on 23 Feb 2009.

 

We thank you for seeking our viewpoint before installing any additional

lamps apart from the vehicle essential lighting devices, such as headlamp,

signal lamp, brake lamp and etc on your motorcycle.

 

As you may already be aware, all motorcycles registered on or after 1 Nov

1997 are to be fitted with automatic headlamp switch-on devices. The

automatic headlamp switch-on device serves to cause the headlamp of the

motorcycle to remain lit, be it in the day or at night, to enhance their

conspicuity to other motorists while travelling on the roads. Under the

Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Lighting) Rules, it is an offence for not

complying with the said requirement.

 

Thus, we do not allow other additional or decorative lamps (e.g. neon

lights, flashing lights, etc) to be fitted externally or within fairing of

motorcycle as they may cause confusion and distraction to other road users.

 

Owners of unroadworthy or modified motorcycles are liable, on conviction to

a fine of up to $1,000 or a jail term of up to 3 months. Repeat offenders

are liable, on conviction, to a fine of up to $2,000 or a jail term up to 6

months.

rule of thumb, not stock = illegal... if wan install then prepare to get caught... get caught liao then explain lor... I also hv LED blinker on my bike... but everytime I pass TP never get stop, cos I am old man...
