The journey is only about 6km but you'll have to pass through both immi booths...depends on the queues...taxi fare I don't know...

Hi people,

I have few questions to ask:

What are some recommended hotels for first timers there?... I would prefer in the heart of town...

Do i need to call & book the hotel rooms first?... We will be reaching on a Saturday morning...

Saturday morning? no worries...just walk-in whichever hotel that suit you

From Kroh took Msia taxi to border, frm border took Thai taxi to Betong.

Wanted to stay at Sri Betong as recommended by Razin,

but the joker thai guy said he recommend me another hotel.

cant remember the name of the hotel, but the room is painted white and all

the wooden furniture inside is painted red. :faint:

but after resting for 2 hours, i didnt really like the feeling nor the place.

chop-chop showered n packed up my stuff n head back to msia. :D

just got home this morning.

i need to get a big bike once more. Lol!

Keep the ticket to yourself...I am referring to the white and red :)

with regards to the white and red, i will not be doing justice to leave things hanging just like that. :)

basically, i believe the hotel is on the east side of Betong and on a minor road.

as it was raining and i was tired from the long journey, i didnt catch much the direction to the hotel.

I was charged 59RM, room 301. and there is like a bar/disco on the ground floor and the booming of music was so loud that i can hear it from the third floor. Even if compared to my ex-DR650 thumping, i find the latter to be music to my ears. Not to mention there is a chicken house rite opposite the hotel. :cheeky:

Anyway, on going back to Malaysia, i remembered making a left turn to a major road, then went to a new hotel which is parallel to the hotel that i stayed. And also i got to see Sri Betong Hotel which is on my left. I thought it looks far nicer than the one that i was in. Sri Betong is greyish and located at a corner of a main road. Should hv insisted and stayed at Sri Betong. M sure it wld b way nicer n not depressing as the white room w red-painted furniture. But i suppose the driver wld hv got commission for getting me to stay at his choice of hotel, perhaps. Then finally i pass thru the tunnel.

i suppose it wld b worth another trip to Betong, but nd to get my own big bike first.

Hi bro razin,

me & 2 other buddies just came back from betong safely...

we stayed in garden view hotel... we found the hotel by chance as we were navigating the town area... initially we were looking for sri betong but missed it but however i guess we made a good choice... garden view is bigger & we parked our bike at lobby area & we felt safe all the time... the room was clean & nice...

i guess it's july so walk in to hotel still ok but if holiday period i think need to call first...

overall impression of betong, very old style town (i don't recall seeing fast food restaurant in betong)... hatyai got more shopping options...

we visited the red postal box, piyamit tunnel & hot spring...

however the gerls there... hmmmmmmm!!! :bouncefire: another reason to go betong again!

we went to O2 disco below garden view & we had a good time!

i already start missing betong!... can't wait to plan go there again...:bounce:

It's about 750km from 2nd link GP ESSO.

At 100km/h.... you'll need 7.5 hrs, plus up 2hrs of breaks, plus checkpoint clearance= 11 hours or more.

12 midnight if you intend to reach Hotel and check in around noon++.

Me friends going up too, during Hari Raya Haji weekend. Setting off from GP ESSO at 6am. Speed @ 120km/h.

Reaching just before 4pm (SG time).

2nd Link less traffic and got 2x big petrol stations to gather.

Woodlands checkpoint have space problem for bikes with side boxes. Scratches and knocks to paint works and falls are common.

You can reach NSHW faster if you filter right immediately after the Malaysian Custom (before Shell Station) to join the shortcut link.

If you miss the link, then need to travel thru JB town of junctions, etc. Not time efficiency for some ppl.
