Hi guys. I am a new rider whom just got my first bike and it is a baby varadero. I found out that the front fork was leaking oil and wanted to discuss with u guys what may be wrong with it. it is an FT plate but it ran only 3000 kilometers.

If i were to change a whole new fork from honda, how much will it be? And if there is any good workshop that can service it cheap and good.

if not how can i reconcile this problem because it is giving me a headache worrying about it.

Thanks guys.

1. Take a piece of cloth and clean the fork with leaking fork oil.

2. Take a very good inspection of the fork and see if there's any dents or hole/s on the fork. (Yes, go to step A) (No, go to step B)

Step A: Fork oil seeping out from the hole when u depress the fork? If yes then fork was hitted by sharp object, fork gone, HAVE TO change fork already. :sorry:

If no then should be seal broken. Can be settled at motordiams for a low fare.

Step B: Should be seal broken. Can be settled at motordiams.

Most of the Motor shops at Alexandra Village open until 7pm on weekdays.

Back to your original question. Chances are that the fork seal needs replacing. Fork tube damage is possible, but less likely, since yours is a low mileage specimen (unless the odometer has already gone 1 round :giddy:). Even then, only the fork tube needs to be replaced. No need to change the entire front suspension.

Maybe it's about time you service the forks while replacing the seals. Personally, I prefer to get my forks done at BikeLab. They are not the cheapest in town, but quality of work is good. They will strip the fork internals and clean/inspect everything, then re-assemble.

High chance its the fork seals torn/cut. . . replacing the fork seals is not expensive, replacing the whole fork is $400~800? Seal alone shd cost no more than $50. Like what ulysses_sc said, better to service the forks at the same time as it is coming out anyway.

Had my fork serv last mth at RaceIncorp for abt $80+. Professional workmanship and good price. U can give them a try. . .
