unless you're rebuilding your bike in which case your engine and all components have been stripped from the frame, it's not practical financially.

Yes, I am stripping the bike fully. I want to do a proper job, probably powder coating IF, I can find a quality coater, and a decnt price.

Anyone know who can do the sand or bead blasting?

you're in luck.. just went through this myself...

dismantle and clean (no oil) frame... then bring to mechem engineering (benoi area)... look for Jenny from marketing... Very good quality... the frame can be phosphate dipped after blasting (inclusive in price)... you can powdercoat ontop of the phosphate..no worries...

For powdercoat... had a very high quality job done by spectra in amk ind pk 2...

Negotiate the prices... but most important is that both places have very high quality work and quite fast turn around...

You'll need to ferry the parts there yourself though...

pm me if you need more info... happy to help.

It's a Vespa PX 200... so quite alot of metal to blast...

The total cost of blasting (everything except engine and plastic parts) was $330...

Powdercoating more ex... you'll need to bargain as the guy Simon, although nice and honest, doesn't know how to charge properly for small jobs... Cost me 300 to do a few pieces like wheel stand, levers etc... Quality A1 though honest....

For paint... would HIGHLY reccomend Alan (speech impaired guy so sms only) who works at the VW warehouse out at Tuas... he is allowed to spray bikes freelance there... oven bake and anti rust etc etc... The whole scooter (again, lots of stuff needs spraying on a Vespa) cost $750... for a motorbike, maybe somewhere more like 4 or 500... depending on how istimewa you want the paint... he showed me one guys stuff (tank, fender, fairing etc) that had cost 1k to do.... AMAZING pearl effect white... really something to behold... But something less dramatic won't cost much. Alan is a very honest chap... you'll see what I mean when you meet him... super nice guy. PM me for his number... or search some of the paint threads....

Cheers,

James

Will be done in a coupel of days, then I'll be taking it for powder coating.

I'll do a write up on the whole thing once I have it finished.

Coolio... let me know who you use for powdercoating if you go with someone other than spectra... so far he's the best I've found...

Todd seems like a good guy :)

Hi James, I don't suppose your vespa has a blue / aqua mariny front mudguard does it? I saw someone riding a nice one yesterday on Sixth avenue when I was out.
