need help on how to go about accident claims

hi all. On fri evening, a taxi crossed the chevron line on the AYE -> ECP just before the Keppel Rd exit and hit into me. An ambulance came to take me to SGH and i suffered from multiple abbrasions.

 

till now, i have already notified my insurance company and made a police report. Tmr morning i will see my IO to show her accident pictures and get the release of my bike from the TP pound.

 

I have a few questions to ask:

 

assuming it is ruled in my favor:

 

1.) on my receipt and MC at SGH, it does not state i have multiple abbrasions. How do i get a statement to say i suffered from multiple abbrasions? is this important in claiming?

 

2.) What are the various things i can claim? loss of transport? injury (extra compensation not just medical bills)? any more?

 

3.) how do i go about claiming such things? do i need a lawyer for it? if i do not engage a lawyer, how do i do it?

 

4.) currently my bike agent is helping me with the insurance matters. are they able to claim these things mentioned above or do i require a lawyer?

 

5.) if i do require a lawyer, how much approx doe it cost?

Btw think you can claim for loss of transport as well as your injuries. For your other questions I leave to those with the knowledge to tell you.

ah ok. what i heard from my friend is that my bikeshop that is helping me with the insurance should have their own lawyer for this. according to my aunty who is an insurance agent, my insurer will also have a lawyer to handle these matters. hopefully i can speak with them and find out what else i can claim

1. loss of transport - how much is reasonable? $20 a day?

2. pain and suffering - how much??

3. injuries (multiple abbrasions) - how much?

4. anything else?

Claim everything you want to change. Change you exhaust to legal after market one also. Change brake hose change tire & rim. change everything. and claim him siong siong.

Actually you can ask your mech. They should be more experience. I ever have a fren who kana touch little bit nia he claim a yoshi exhaust hahaha... You can ask the mech cos usually if they find your case 100% win they will do it for you.

yea. the problem is my parents not really keen on lawyer ah.. do u happen to know how much do the legal fees cost? assuming i lost the case and have to pay everthing

Do yourself a favour: go and ask a lawyer who knows about personal injury claims. All your questions can be answered in 20 minutes and there is much less chance of misinformation. Hint: make an appointment to attend a legal clinic (go and find out what that is).
