You may visit ASP Serangoon branch, their practice is Bike price (fixed) + all fees (almost fixed) + COE (you can set or top up or offset with the actual amount, which I think this is the most fair method) + INS (based on rider's data, almost standard across the board) and they usually provides box, rain coat and helmet(s) as free gift (can nego if you don't want any/all items, more offset :)

Very likely next round of COE will be lower for bike, so you may be in luck to book now.

Ya agree on ASPhoon Serangoon, good service and the sales really giv good advice.

But the lowest COE since last Dec is around $1400+, so anything around there is good le in my own opion.

It is ok to go higher speed after 100km of breaking-in, but always kickup slowly and gradually increase speed instead of chiong like a racer, coz the rings and piston and wall still not season enough and all the bearings are still not sit-in properly, so if you chiong like a racer, you feel good now but your girl will over worn too fast and creates unevenness which is a permanent damage.

The best way to know everything is ready for normal day usage is to monitor the FC, once the FC stablise, it means the engine and gears/bearings even belt are more or less ready for big time. But do take into consideration that you need time to 'interact' with your girl, so the first 1 or 2 tankful may gives inaccurate FC result.

The moment you get to know her better and have the grip on how to handle her best, your FC should be improving and stablise (usually after 3 to 4 tankful), so far Evo can have best FC of up to 38km/L (20% city/80% highway) if you don't anyhow speed, worst also can easily get 26km/L (mostly city, minimum highway travelling), typical 50/50 FC is around 32km/L for my case considering I am 80kg weighted on her and she is 2 years old.

I am getting some accessories like hazard light switch/controller, ETC (electronic temp controller), 2 ways alarm, GPS/phone holder, 12V supply socket with regulator and some other items for her, if anyone interested in any of the items, let me know so can order together. (hazard light and 12V socket (non regulated) not applicable to GTS as already included).

Hi Guys! How are all of you?

Beem really busy with my new job, but am also enjoying my 200i evo! Really save me alot of time, even during raining day, i only wear top rain coat with my jeans and my jean only abit wet. good2.

Still in running in but i didnt really keep to the wide spectum breaking in, as i easily run 70-80 in normal road and 90 in expressway, but i still keep under 110km/hr. Really easy to get with the bike, easy & nice to ride.

Currently running about 100+km already, acturally wanna change EO during sat but it only 20km so tot monday will go during lunch but was too busy with the stuipd new job. Haha think will go this sat! Anyway if im goin MAH for my free service, i just ride into the main entrance right? And park n ask ppl right? Haha no backlane entrance right?

Cheers 2 all!

Just to share why good to have ETC instead of just use the default thermo-switch for the radiator. A few bro asked me so I think it is good to discuss in open.

The default thermo-switch is mounted on the radiator and the thermostat is mounted near to the water pump (on the engine case), so the temp sensed and display on the dashboard shows the near engine temp but the thermo-switch only activated when the heated coolant reached the radiator, the temp usually drops by up to 10 deg C due to the long hose and the distance between the radiator and the engine block.

Now the issue is the engine is actually much hotter than expected by the thermo-switch, which is very different from big bike like super four where the radiator and the engine block is very near. With the default turn-on temp of the thermo-switch is 100 deg C, the engine temp will be very much higher by the time the thermo-switch turned on. This resulted in many SYM scooter have overheating problem and burst gasket, even valves and engine block problems after around 2 years due to the system efficiency drops, the drops could be due to coolant, water pumps, hose or even the radiator itself. If the problem is not resolved, huge repair cost and endless sleepless night can take place.

The ETC sense the temp near the engine block and force the cooling fan on when temp is up to preset level, the cooler coolant recycled back to the engine will be more effective to cool the engine and stablise the optimal temp (cooler engine allows better acceleration and improve FC quite significantly especially on injection engine, where the engine burn can be more lean, controlled by the ECU (hotter engine will burn rich to prevent early ignition which caused by hot chamber effect).

Advanced ETC uses multiple sensors to detect temp near the engine, coolant hoses and radiator, which form a fully controlled environment for coolant system temp control, but it is too expensive to deploy on scooter (not so practical).

Optimal burn need optimal temp control and can save up to 15% fuel and reduce heat damage to the engine, prolong the life and health of our beloved scooter.

good job bro deepblur, easy to understand waiting in anticipation for the ETC.

1st choice: SYM Scooters Club Singapore (SSCS)

2nd choice: SYM Scooter Owners Group Singapore (SSOGS)

Hazard light is the switch to turn on both signal lights, GTS have it, big bikes have, but Evo don't, so let do it with style :cheeky:

How's the 2012 mirror look like? got photo?

Can do many things on our little sheep, the most common one like riding video cam (very common in Taiwan), 2 ways alarm, so someone or even cat touch her, she send a signal to the remote controller (within 100m typically).

Auto headlight, so when stop at traffic, off the headlight to save battery, advanced version even auto Hi-Lo beam by detecting opposite vehicle and auto-Lo beam when enter to tunnel/MSCP. The one I am most interested is proximity warning (similar to BMW car installed warning system), any object come near within 20m (can adjust) will trigger warning by sound/light, one good safety feature when some idiot come too near us on the road, but this gadget is very expensive now and always no stock.

I am not favor in all kinds of LED lights, HID, etc as that invite TP attention.

1 item all should/must have is magnetic fuel coupling, it save up to 15% of fuel and make 95 oct petrol feel like 98/premium grade, very obvious when riding on highway, the engine is quieter and smoother, market have few cheap (not as good) version, cost around $15, the good one is from Japan, cost around $80 per pair but I ensure this money is well spent, you will regret why not install earlier after you try it.

Bro, start a group and we can mod like crazy together lar.

hi, im new, just picked up a gts. Just asking around, is it normal for the battery lights to turn on before u start the engine(after you turn the ignition key on)?

And i have seen my battery lights sometimes turning on for a short while, while riding (i took the liberty and do a search on this forum and it says its normal as the rectifier coil is charging the battery)--

Not so normal if it light up when engine on, either the battery is almost end of life or the charging circuit is having some fault.

okay cool, but its normal before engine on right?

Yes, the light should on when you turn your key to ON for diagnostic test on the circuit and it should off when the engine crack start.

The light indicates that power is not charged to the battery, either the rectifier is bad, battery is dying or alternator is failing, monitor a while and if still have the problem, better check to prevent the scooter half way die while riding.

Hmm where to get this fuel magnet thingy and how to install?

BTW. There is another cruising group calling us to join them. BUt i am not sure if we can meet their requirements of travelling at 130km/h in NSHW. my bike max speed as for now is only 135km/h. (Max Throttle liao)

Well done bro, few suggestions:

1. the group should be private, so only 'registered' members can access.

2. The scooter logo is quite ok except the bottom, too blur, need to improve on it.

We can meet up but not late night at Seletar Reservoir lar, we are not going there to see who can pee further into the water lar, I would suggest more central area easier for all interested. One good place (east side) will be KFC Kallang where a lot of bike group meeting there on weekend.

Best to see how many stay where (N, S, E, W, C) of Singapore, than find a more suitable place.

SBF have MO before but all those were from China, I can check with my friend see if he still can get the Japan or Germany version, but cost 'a lot' more.

Most bros here riding GTS and Evo, can't go 130km/h lar, so I don't think that group will interested to let us join in, comfortable top speed should be around 100km/h and even that also can be rather stressful for the belt if running for hours.

Once the grp is up and running, a short day trip can be organised. Some suggestions would be (1) Baby lobster lunch at Sungei Rengit. (2) Day ride to Air Papan and for 2D1N - Melaka or Port Dickson.

Anyway bro, the scooter pix on SSOGS FB looks macam Vespa leh !
