By right, these kind of mods which changes the specs of your bike can revoke your insurance policy & drag you to court. That is the most by right.

By left no need say lah. :)

Hi guys,

I've got rear disc brake (racing boy) with racing footrest, during rainy days my rear brake doesn't work that effectively as compared to dry days. Is it due to my brake hose or due to the rain? i can't really feel the slowing down whenever i press on my rear brake during rainy days.

just fyi, during normal dry days the rear disc brake isn't that effective as well compared to drum brake. im okay with it but its much worse during rainy days.

Can anyone help me on this?

Can try to see got brake fluid or not, or if it requires bleeding. You should have brake pad left right? If not you can check whether there's still any brake pad left. Another way to see if it's functioning at all is put on mainstand and then spin the rear wheel and step on the brake.

There is brake fluid, at least 3/4. The brake pads that i've been using is about 1 month plus old. hmmm.. what is bleeding? the weird thing that i'm getting is during dry days it works quite normal at least i can feel the slowing down, but during rainy days its like pressing nothing and just keeps rolling forward. rainy days i've got to depend more on engine brake and front brake.

I'm suspecting that its the brake fluid and the brake hose. i'm not very experience in this though.

bit confusing eh, cause earlier you mentioned during dry days also not effective as well then now you say it's working normal. If both weather also not working properly it could be the brake fluid not fully pumped into the hose. Bleeding is to remove the air bubbles from the break hose, if not done properly, the brake won't work properly either.

Firstly, for Spark, racing footrest + rear disc brake is a big no no. The brake pump will not be depressed fully due to the flaw in the design of the racing footrests. So that will already cause your brake to not work effectively.

Secondly, for brake systems that do not work effectively, there are alot of factors that play a part. Brake hose, brakepads, brake disc, bleeding of brake fluid etc.

Since you mentioned during dry weather your brake works effectively but only during wet weather it sucks, my opinion will be to try changing to better brakepads.

If you say dry & wet weather your braking sucks, then maybe I will say its the bleeding or anything else. Anyway it is hard to know what is the problem without seeing the bike itself. Even mechanics need to see & test a bike to troubleshoot problems. If not, all we can do here is assume. :)

Woah, thats one super clear explanation. didn't know that it would be due to so much factors, so if the problems lies with the brake pads. are there specific brands or model of brake pads that is suitable for spark during dry and wet weather?

Been hearing riders saying EBC brakepads are very good, but pricey. Or can use the Yamaha original stock brakepads. Cheap & good.

If you are still new with Spark, my suggestion will be to try out various brands & choose which one you feel is good. Its much better to try it out yourself than hearing reviews like 'i heard this one good', 'my friend say this one not good', 'people say this one not good' etc. Get what I mean?

You can get it done in JB for around RM80+/-. BUT that was the price back then in 2010!
