Thinking of either renewing my bike's COE or get another kup like spark.

If i want to renew COE, is there anything i need to do? like full servicing/top service or what?

not much problem now but hope it can last at least another 4-5years

Regarding what u have to do to renew your COE, the answer is

(assuming you had ALREADY passed your annual inspection) Nothing, except bring money. haha.

if you have not passed inspection yet, no worry, renew COE 1st & AFTER that, LTA will tell you when your bike's inspection is due. in which the usual annual inspection routine stuff applies which you should be familiar by now.

as i am not net savvy, i only know just bring money & relevant documents down to LTA at sin ming. i renew my previous bike's COE for 10 years for $13 10 years ago ( Dec 2002 / Jan 2003 ). last time got log card, now no have, everything in LTA computer. we are now in IT age. bring ic enough. if u dunno procedure, just ask at the queue. they will tell you what to do.

after renew COE, then go settle your insurance & rd tax. i assume you already know if u chose renew 5 year, next time cannot extend or renew again. i always advice people to renew 10 years cause can sell bike later. i know i won't want to buy a bike that is going to die & no hope to extend coe cause anything spoilt, no point repair but if no repair, i cannot use the bike safely. anyhow also lose. imagine 3years after renew, something expensive go, want to repair or not when bike got less than 2 years left & cannot sell. scrap also not much money to take back. maybe only enough to take taxi home.

if renew 10 yrs, i can chose to repair or chose to sell. don't underestimate the sale potential of the 125z cause they don't make the 2 strokes anymore ( with the exception of scramblers ).

I think you mistaken on what i'm asking :D

I'm trying to ask if do i need to any extra servicing like full service/top service so that the bike can last longer if i were to renew COE

im currently using dunlop tt900 tires, 80/80 front n 80/90 rear. anyone knows whats the recommended or best air pressure needed when i pump those tires?

Sent from my iPhone 5 using Tapatalk

i also using the same tyres ( thailand ones, not the jepun gp ones ) as you. currently pumping 350 - 380 kpa ( 50 - 53 psi ) depend on how i feeling. btw, i only go sg & johor only but i think long journey also same. i heard track should bleed down to around 250 - 280

for your reference only, everybody got different preferences. most people i know use 220-250 in sg. m'sian mechanics prefer to use 300-400 on their own bikes, but will pump 220-250 for sg customers. they tell me if pump more, sg customers no happy will scold them, so they learn to just give what sg customers want. they themselves use different though personally i prefer higher pressure but most (almost everyone else i know in sg!) sg riders disagree with me. some even go as low as 180!

PS edit: personally from my own experience, i think my prefered tyre pressure did not change significantly from different brands of tyres. if you like 250, you will tend to use 250 for other brands ( same tyre size & same bike ).i believe most sg riders will agree or else it means i am sadly mistaken.

PS 2 ( reply to sky99 ):

i never say higher better, it is personal. my point is that you should experiment yourself to find what you like. some like 180, some like 240, i like 350 etc etc...different for everyone mah, no 1 size fits all. many people ask this, i say what is right for me may not be right for you, find out your own personal set up, it is like suspension, everyone likes different set up. where got who right or wrong?

i only point out my observation of general trends in sg & msia. i never recommend 300+ to others but when i say I use minimum 350 for years which is true, it is no bluff. i like it but most sg riders hate it. so can i say i right or better? of course not! differnt taste mah!

btw, i started out with 200kpa 20 yrs ago following other sg riders. my taste is a aquired one, my preference slowly change through the years to the present one. so i learn my own preference from experimenting. please don't misunderstand, i not saying i very lao jiao, just saying that everyone should try to find out what fits them instead of following what everyone else is doing. maybe you will end up with 180 or 400 who knows? 400 is like limit, i know no one who use more than 400 but then again, there are always exceptions.

btw, only now i notice you are experienced old bird expert. paisei paisei, i got eye no see mount Tai. so many posts! regards :)

WTF? hahahaha...paiseh paiseh...sorry! :D

actually it depends on what you want. if you want guarentee no problem, change everything, sure sui sui. some shops will 'advice' & 'recommend' cause they got pressure from their bosses( i won't give names, scared kanna sued, so you must learn to be streetwise yourself ). of course, the more things you change, of course the longer it can last, kiasu sure win!

technical things i believe here got many experts that are better than me, listen to them.

personally if i am in your shoes, i will save the money 1st, change nothing 1st & renew 10 years, any problem later then fix later when pay comes lah.

the usual maintainance, i no need to say cause you should know by now after owning the bike for so long, right? regards.

thanks for the info , i went to change the whole clutch plate already.

you meant drag the bike's rpm till no torque feeling?

if i dunno how to explain properly, please forgive me. clutch slip means you open throttle more, engine loud loud but bike no moving faster, even slowing down instead cause your gear disengaged from 'slipping'. maybe that is what you mean by no torque feeling?

if you just change clutch plate recently, should not have such problem. most people like to drag their 'gear' ie. stay in gear for very long, rev rpms very high before changing up. like that can get higher top end speed, ie. faster but if this habit if prolonged shortened the lifespan of the plates. racer's ones very fast finish, slower rider's ones last longer.

i am no qualified mech, so if any expert disagree can voice it out & point out if i am mistaken.

PS edIt: sorry i long long time no read my inbox, paiseh. i think it is too late for me to answer your questions now. you probably settled already. paiseh sorry, i did not log on during that period of time. regards.

If u really want to renew your coe, I suggest spend more. Save up and rebuild your whole bike. Make it like a new 2012/2013 Malaysia 125z

not much point if only go renew 5 years only. you want to keep swee swee vintage style for grandchildren to see also cannot. :(

btw, i only noticed my typo error earlier, obviously i meant Dec 2002/ Jan 2003 instead of 2012/2013 lol! i changed my typing mistake already

PS: btw i am local born Singaporean, not malaysian. the things i say is just the feedback i learnt from malaysian mechanics working HERE in sg bike shops.
