Hey Adair, how did u feel riding with a cafe bar CG.

Friend mentioned some problems like:

-elbow might block the knee while turning and the opposite arm have to reach further, causing rider to lose balance

-handlebar is very close to tank in a tight position, quite hard to balance while turning.

-lower position might be tiring for neck and lower-back

-hands lower means that the body is in a curled up cramped position

Any comments?

-elbow might block the knee while turning and the opposite arm have to reach further, causing rider to lose balance.---I think only when U turn will take wider turn..

-handlebar is very close to tank in a tight position, quite hard to balance while turning---i think will get used to it.

-lower position might be tiring for neck and lower-back--- abit tiring, i think not good for long distances. It like a road bicycle with drop bars.

-hands lower means that the body is in a curled up cramped position... looks old school cool though... ---cant comment much, personal preference.

I think if you're still young, it wont be that bad..for older folks, i think not so comfortable..

I bought my bike from adair..he's a good lad..Thought me many stuff..

bernardlimws, hows your bike doing now? any updates from the previous posts?

If u are free today, we can meet up to have a look at each others bikes. My offday today.

The bike's ok I think. Oldish looking, but in good condition. I live in Tampines.

Want to go Sungei Kadut to look for a old bike shop that the Rxk riders recommended to change the handlebar just in case I need some spares if I want to change the bar. They say he's quite reasonable and got many spares lying around the shop.

My Hp no. is 92729259. Call or sms quick if u see this, maybe can do a short quick meet up. Gona try to leave early for long slow journey. Must catch uncles fresh and early before their mood turns bad. Old people u know la...Haha. -Bernard

Adair was using a clubman handlebar previously on his cg, from what I gather from bear who was also using the same bar, says that it's tiring and back breaking because of it's mounting position to be lower than that of a conventional handlebar.. But personally I've tried using bro sufyan's literally straight bar before and all I can say is that it felt comfortable.. Anyhoo the clubmans, if you were to install it would even result in a tighter turn and would definitely hit the tank, just my 2 cents..

Changing to lower and short handle bar will affect the control of the machine as the posture and center of gravity is not there, you will fall if you can control the machine well.

Hi Tony,

I am thinking of taking over my brother GL125. Now laid off due to the rectifier I think. My bro also

checked with the motor shop and was recommended to have the wiring change from 6v to 12v. And

the cost is above $1k. Is there any way that I can get a cheaper option. If I can have a better

option then the restoration will on the way.

Hey,

Anyone knows where to find engine stuff for 1991 CG125? Need to look for engine piston. Found old thread on scrapyards.

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php/146855-sharing-of-lobang-for-scrapyards/page5

Any comments on experiences with them bros?...

Will try to call them to try.

Discovered engine problem

My bike's engine was feeling abit jammed this morning. When moving off on 1st and 2nd gear can feel like going to jam. Then just increase speed, then after engine warmer, everything felt ok.

Went on bike to buy lunch and it happened again. Bike seems to feel more draggy than before when moving off at 1st gear at traffic lights.

Discovered another shop I cannot trust

Decided to explore other bike shops near home in Tampines. Went to Kim Heng at Blk 9002 behind Safra. After i told 50s looking uncle with big mole on one lower eyelid about the symptoms, he just started my bike and revved hard to listen to engine and told me that my caburator need to change and will cost about $200+. Reason from him is that the only thing that will cause problem like that when engine is cold is caborator. Asked if got cheaper way and he said can change parts set, he don't know if anybody brings it in. I wanted him to diagnose again by waiting for bike to cool down and showing him the jamming engine reaction.

2nd opinion

In the meantime, I reluctantly called my 1st mechanic that did a costly restoration of my bike (at GNG) for a 2nd opinion and he asked me to bring bike down immediately for him to have a better look. I quickly left as sky started looking dark. He saw my bike and I asked if servicing will help and he asked how long since I last changed oil. I thought its about a month, but its 24 days to be exact. So he went ahead to drain oil

Oil is black and lesser than my previous oil change. Mech uncle told me my engine is burning or eating oil. Piston need to be changed costing about $250 before more damage occurs. Ahhhh! Cost just as much, but at least this diagnosis looks more correct.

Thought CG bulletproof? The “Destroyer” (me) has done it again....Hahaha.

Oil change cost me $10, engine not jamming anymore, but still seems to feel more draggy than before when moving off at 1st gear at traffic lights. Think GNG uncle is right.

Hey Bear, Sab and Hafiz, the mechs at GNG thinks the colour scheme is really nice. I really like it too. Maybe got chance to paint it properly again if got another session. I will bring 2x5L petrol can next time. Must go back and ask mech to put better screws and spacers that hold me seat and rack for easier assembly.

Actually I roughly know what to do, maybe just try myself. How bad can I screw up? Muahahahaha:D

Please comment on my search for CG engine piston. Or should I visit Joon Seng?

hi Bernard..is it normal for the bike to jerk when your trying to hit top speed?

Hi Bro, how fast u riding? No speedo, no rpm meter. U probably killing your engine la Haha. CG125 is a reliable ah pek bike. No matter how hard u throttle, its got limitations. People who race must have lobang or are sponsored and have mechanic to overhaul their engine everytime they race.

Go to a reliable bike shop. Ask them how much is it to check the bike engine. My shop did it for me free 1st time I went there. I saw so much problems that I had to leave my bike there. I think your engine is in very bad condition liao. Considering how good my bike sounds and it still have problems. Go to scrapyard to look for a new engine top block just in case la. Or u bring to a friendly shop. Let them do, but say u poor and ask them is it cheaper for u to find the parts or do they have lobang with the scrapyards and can buy parts cheaper from them.

If they are good, they are not afraid to help u save moneybecause their biz is always coming in. Must find people who recognise that 125cc riders are not well off and are willing to help make things cheaper. That's why we're out there risking our lives on 2 wheels man.

I see...I was going around 90 ~95kmh i think..I think my motor sound like weak cos it's not the CDI version..think the CDI more zai..

Mechanic say my bike older "white gold" type. He say CDI easier, more reliable. Use until kaput then change la:)
