Hi all, just bought a used CBX250 recently. I am enjoying riding the bike. Well balanced, light with adequate suspension. Engine is a peach. Just enough power for highway use and urban riding fun though I won't mind another 5 to 10 bhp.

Dont forget the lovely fuel economy ;)

Add an iridium plug, check your air filter, tires, drive train get a good oil..

You will get a little more oomph!

hehehe

Hmm...I've been tracking the fuel economy and could only get 22-23km/l. I don't know how riders here manage to get 30km/l. Maybe it is my generous application of the throttle? 450km to a tank? That's impossible for me so far. Ha...

Do as I said. In addition, have your brake pistons serviced.

Is yours fuel injected?

Im riding a ybr250. A direct competitor to the cbx250.

Im getting 34-36km/L. Initially about 29-32.

Hi Koyume1,

My Twistter is year 2009 FBD plate form my experience Air Filter play a very important role in which Air and Fuel ratio is obtained, let me give an event that happen to me while on the way back from work I experience engine that is almost dying in which I think the max speed that day is only 40 to 50 km/hr upon reaching home I open up my spark plug and I observed that it is very thick black carbon on spark plug the culprit is the Air filter partially choke to ensure it won't happen again I remove the paper section of the Air filter don't forget that CBX Twistter Air filter consist of 2 parts that is Stainless steel and paper to illustrate how fine the mesh is even our hair our can't go through it to Cut short story my Twistter Air filter is only Stainless without the paper.

Sorry for the lenghty example.

Hi bro, no issues with all that u mentioned. All were done by the shop or by myself.

Have been tracking the fuel consumption the past month plus. Averaging 23-25km/l. Could be riding style and lots of city traffic. So far best was 364km before reserve needed to be switched on.

Maybe I should start behaving and ride like an uncle for a tankful and see if that makes a difference.

Twister under normal condition, fc should be around 30km/l. Older bike should be around 26-28km/l.

Based on your fc and bike age, I suspect it's never engine overhauled before.

It means your piston, valve and other engine parts are worn out.

Suggest you check your engine oil level regularly and change it within 3k.

If necessary, get a trusted shop to do a check on the bike.

I've been trying out something and realised that it's probably due to riding style and road conditions.

I've been ahem...behaving myself recently and with the lighter traffic due to the school holidays and using more expressways, the last 2 fill ups were 25-27km/l. The other thing could be that I pillion my wife daily and that could impact the fuel consumption too.

The bike is quite new and I got it at 43k km so I doubt that it's the engine. The problem is that I don't think that I can keep up the uncle riding style for long as it has such a willing engine. It begs to be given big throttle and so fun to ride fast...ahem...I mean at a slightly elevated pace. Safely of course Mr TP sir.

There was someone asking abt the air filter. I got mine about 1-2 months ago from Ever Success at Lembu Road. Maybe he can try there.

Cheers!

HI everyone, need help, anyone know anywhere can get the 2005 model twister digital speedometer? New or second hand type? thks

I guess Boon Siew parts or any of the Honda parts dealer would do. Try Eversuccess at No.17 Lembu Road.

eversuccess.com.sg

I also remembered seeing some on Taobao but quality is probably quite poor

I also order some air n oil filter, the shop here quoted my $60 just for the oil filter, but the web only us$5... So much different... Saw some pistol set, anyone buy and fix before? Any shop can do it for us if we buy online for pistol ring set?

$60 for an oil filter is too expensive. I bought 1 but can't remember how much, probably less than $10.

Hmm.. I am wary of buying critical parts from Chinese websites. Things like engine parts and even oil filters, I would rather buy genuine Honda stuff.

Oil filter $35 is expensive but if you change at the bike shop that price including workmanship I think should be reasonable, fyi I bought at Everfit (Genuine Honda Stockist) in Desker road is $9 but then that is July 2012. Normally I buy 6 pcs at one go cause I change the engine oil and oil filter myself.

Go get the k&n oil filter. If you're using kn-112, on Amazon it will probably cost less than us5 each.

This afternoon just went to boon siew, the part number for the meter is the right number, but they no longer carry that part. Another bro fax them the meter diagram, also wan to buy, but they don't hav. Funny thing is they don't even have oil filter n air filter, they say hav don't carry that model part anymore. Now only stock for bike less than 7 years....

I have heard that Boon Siew is not supporting their bike parts well but this is quite alarming. Air filter and oil filter are not some obscure little parts that someone asks for once in a blue moon. These are regular maintenance items.

Goodness...Guan Hoe never had problems with Suzuki parts. And if I need to order, it's here in 2 weeks flat.

What is Boon Siew thinking?

Try Eversuccess at Lembu Road. I bought my air and oil filter there. Both original Honda stuff.

Great bike the CBX250. Too bad the agent is not doing its job.
