I'll probably have to check my coolant as well.

Realised that all these while it wasn't checked. Haha.

It was reseted by my mechanics last time they changed the oil for me. All I know is if you press the Adj button on the dashboard, it will change to TRIP A, then to TRIP B and after that it will show you how manyKkms you have done since your last oil change, so I guess the trick is to reset that counter, I ll have a look as well

Yeap. All the mechanics did was reset the counter.

But that's between servicing. What if I reset the counter at 5,000km without changing oil? Will the "Engine Oil" indicator still light up??

OK found it, once you get to the screen that I mentioned (the one after TRIP B) press ADJ and MODE at the same time until the light goes away, also the counter will be set back to zero, hope it works.

If that's the case, then that's pretty dangerous.

It should work both ways.

After changing the oil, reset, it's ok.

Not changing the oil, reset, then once past the 5000km, doesn't light up

=(

But anyways, I'll always change around 3800-4200km intervals. Can feel the draggy and heavy feeling.

@parotae

I spent a few hours during the weekend working on my bike. I used the "Armor all" product that you recommended on the black plastics, it was looking a bit grey rather tank black before applying it, I was really impressed by the result, my bike looks like brand new now all nice and shiny.

I was reading some review about this product and a lot of people do not recommend it, they said it causes the superficies to crack after a while. Have you used this product for a while now?

January was freezing here, the previous 3 winters I was able to cope with it using winter gloves but this year somehow I became weak :), my hands were getting really cold and that’s why I had to invest on the heated inner gloves, so now my hand think that they are in Singapore :).

We only had two days of snow but luckily it was expected so the roads were prepared and it didn't affect my commuting, they use grit on the roads (some kind of salt) to melt the snow as soon as it lands but the downside of it is that it sticks to the bike and the metal parts can get rusty very quickly, so I had to take the bike to a car wash place to keep the salt off it, I tried to clean it myself but the outside water pipes were frozen :(.

Anyways, the temperatures are on the rise now, we are expecting this Thursday to reach 16 degrees even though this morning when I left to the gym we were at -4 brrrr.

hmmmm......60........ Have you tried the 50? 60 is pretty heavy on the engine. Only those big v twin or higher performance bike take 60. Yep, for non performance bike, thicker engine oil affect the top speed. I used 50 on my pcx. Very hard to reach 110km. Max only 100km.

air filter mod? So become open pod system??

Currently, there is no filter element for Downtown from Simota but there is Simota serviceable air filter for grand dink. So in order to use Simota air filter element for downtown have to buy Simota air filter for gran dink, cut around the filter and cut around the original downtown filter and switch them. Wah lau, modding take up a lot of time. May have to use silicone to seal around the gaps.

Guys, I have a question with regards to changing fuses. I am using heated gloves temperatures here are below 0 degrees some days so the most effective solution for me is heated inner gloves. they have been working ok for the last 2 weeks but today they stopped working. They come with a cable that I have connected to the battery, this cable then can be attached to the gloves using an extension and the cable has a little box that holds a fuse. All I can think of is that the fuse (3A) is gone.

Do you know if I can change a fuse whilst the cable is connected to the battery? Or will I blew it straight away? I want to avoid having to remove the under seat compartment as I can reach the fuse quite easily.

Hope you can help :)

Here is a link for the gloves so you guys can appreciate what we have to do when it get really cold, and also get a better idea of what I am talking about

http://www.keisapparel.co.uk/#product-89

Don't have to remove the battery connection. Just fix the fuse directly without connecting to the heated glove. If you can reach the fuse just swap it.

So long as the glove is not connected, there's no current flow.

If there is a shorting somewhere it'll short immediately. Then you will need to trace the short. If it works fine after changing then it's just the usual burned fuse due to high current flow. Change to a 5A fuse for better current flow to prevent burning of the fuse but use the recommended fuse as per manufacturer recommendation is better.

If your heated glove cable connected to the battery comes with 3A just swap with a 3A. 3A is quite low so as to protect the heating element from burning off from shorting i guess. So stock up on a few 3A fuse as another burned fuse is likely.

Heated gloves, i thought heated grips lol.

What!? Oh no, that's bad. I use it on all the rubber and plastic i can find and spray like - hoses, seals, seat, tires (becareful, will cause skidding during cornering) Anything i can get the armor all on.

What i did is, spray on the plastic, spread with a sponge and leave them on for a few minutes to hours. Wipe off excess.

Now i'll just have to wait for the cracking to happen :p

I've been using it since new in september 2011. I have been using tire shine (like Meguiar's, Black Magic) for all my plastic on my previous ride. So now have to wait and see.

From what I saw it only happens if you use it over a few years so you should be ok :). I saw a lot of good review for the 303 Aerospace Protectant whivh is water based and lets the plastic breathe unlike Armor all.

I have it on order and will let you know the results at least I know what armor all can do so I can give you a good comparison.

By the way if you didn't se the post about resetting the oil service light :

"OK found it, once you get to the screen that I mentioned (the one after TRIP B) press ADJ and MODE at the same time until the light goes away, also the counter will be set back to zero, hope it works."

Thanks for the tip, glad I don't have to reach to the battery, I am bit confused now, I have removed the fuse during my lunch hour and it seems ok, I will get some spares on the way back home and try anyway but if it is not the fuse then I have no clue :)

I bought another 2 X 10FL OZ bottles

But it's really shiny, glossy and new for all my plastics and rubber and vinyl.

If the fuse is ok (not blown) then it could be a loose connection problems, usually at the battery terminal or the connector to your gloves, uh-oh may have to remove the seat after all. Loose connection may also cause the fuse to blow as it creates higher resistance producing high heat that'll eventually blow the fuse.

Downtown is a motorized vibrator on wheels (exaggerated), not uncommon for screws to come loose.

I have heard of exhaust bolts coming loose from all the engine vibration.

Sorry to hear that, you may be able to get you money back or at least swap them for another product, I share your opinion it really makes the bike look stunning :).

I've had a quick look and the cable it is pretty secured to the battery, it has to be the fuse , I think the gloves are fine otherwise at least one would work.

Did a reset for the oil service light, thanks guys for the steps for reset.

Anyhow, it is a big bike (the BMW). And plus the better suspension system they have,

I suppose the vibration on the bike wouldn't be that bad.

Spent 15mins applying Armor All on my bike.

Quite tedious, as there're quite a lot of plastic panels.
