I was happy with my DT125i also, please don't get me wrong with all my previous postings.

However, I'm really not happy with the aftersales attitude the boss gave me. He didn't even want to take in my scoot be it trade-in or sell it back to Motorsports!!!

And I still can't come to terms that Motorsports is the agent and distributor of Kymco scoots, without having other shops take a parcel in the business, unlike most other brands of motorcycles except Harley Davidson. Even BMW also got other bike shops to help promote their bikes.

This resulted in high markups for every Kymco scoot thanks to low competition/ low sales numbers (thus profit is higher per scoot VS huge sales numbers thus lower profit per scoot).

Since Motorsports ain't interested in doing my business, why should I bother??

Peace bros!!! (This is something that I really have to share with those who intend to get a brand new Kymco scoot especially).

Can't agree much that for the price my DT300I is good. Which bike owner have no complaints right? if complaints are heard and eagerly sincerely resolved, then there will be no issue. Anyway, i will never buy a bike from there again nor will i recommend.

Can't agree more. For this price, what do you expect??

And which bike owners have no complaints after buying a bike? Is there a perfect machine? Not even the mighty BMWs....

Like what parotae said, the boss of MS (Herbert Tay) is a very nice gentleman. He will not play you out if you got a defective machine. So far he replied all my email queries, sms and forum postings. Not many motorshop bosses is like him. I will support him again if he has a bike I like.

Just received my Insurance and Road Tax renewal. Thus another month away to 2 years.

Thinking of itchy backside to change bike again.

Anyone keen to buy a Downtown 300i? Fully stocked, black colour. Only tiems changed were the engine oil, filter, spark plug and just last month, the battery.

Bike is currently 15000km, coming to 2 years. Sheltered car park. Proper break in done with lots of oil changes. I using fully synthetic oil and change less than 3000km interval with full records of work done and all refuelling. Fuel consumption nowadays constant 34km/litre of SHELL 95.

IU is installed.

Bike serviced only at Motorsports under my own watchful eyes.

Fixed with Kymco bracket, and with a Givi 450 Simply top box.

You will get a brand new number plate as I am retaining mine, so it's like you are getting a new bike.

Selling at $9500

Last call for a totally stock Downtown, accident free, drop free, immaculate condition, low mileage and super duper Fuel Consumption of more than 30km/litre of Shell 95

Renewing Insurance if no keen buyers

Think I have to come in and say something in defence of Kymco.

Good aftersales attitude is just all about being able to trade in the bike back to the shop?

Can anyone tell me which boss of any (motorcycle) brand japanese, german, italian returned your sms and emails within the same day of enquiry?

This is the first time, I am given the boss handphone number. Most of the time we don't even get to talk to the boss. At the best, we are given the shop number, put on hold till the mechanic is free to answer your call? Even he picked up your call, what is their reply? Come down here and I will see to it?

Agreeing with Paithorn that Herbert has been very helpful. Ever since I bought the bike from him in 2011, he had never failed to reply all my smses. There are many occasions after which he had answered my questions, I can DIY and don't have to go down to the workshop to have the issues looked at.

When I embarked a ride to Koh Samui last month, he was gracious enough to lend me new spare parts i.e belts, wheel bearings, rectifier, brake/clutch levers etc. That save me alot of monies as myroad belt already cost 3xx. Altogether the spare parts already cost near to 1k. Which bike shops will do that?

This aftersales attitude to me is way above the mountain top.

If one change bike like changing underwear and every time expects the shop to absorb the depreciation value and give high trade in price. That is just old fool fantasy thinking. Let me know which motorcycle shops do that. I will be glad to their customer and change bike every 1-2 years.

Ehh, pls lah. You ride the largest scooter in Kymco lineup, you think the boss won't bother about you??

I always wonder why the boss' MyRoad 700i always park in showroom, then now he riding DT300i. I ask him he say, "Oh, MyRoad700i very bulky for local roads, plus now is under servicing".... Hmm. He was riding that for months previously leh and enjoying the ride. He told me previously MyRoad700i sibei shiok and solid. So how come suddenly park in showroom?? And park is park for months at a row de.

Anyways, get your facts right Mr Doremi. In case you didn't read my post previously, Motorsports don't even want to take in my scooter. I called the boss, Herbert, he said he'll return me a call within a few days. BUT HE DIDNT!! Ah Lau even ask me sell the scoot on SBF. Can fetch better value. He don't even want to take in my 1.5yrs old scoot.

Other bike shops already don't wanna take in the scoot. Even if they do, they take in at a ridiculous price. A few offer me $2k nia. Mr Doremi. If bike shops take in your MyRoad700i for $3k ai mai?? Anyways, you didn't spend much to buy your MyRoad700i anyways. If I remember, you downgraded from a Kawasaki GTR1400 isn't it?? You probably traded that bike in and don't even have to fork out a single cent for your MyRoad700i.

Fellow riders of DT300i here also recently asked what's the trade-in value for their scoot to Motorsports. MS Ubi Ah Lau only willing to take in $5k (for less than 2yrs old scoot). What a joke!!! Buy from them already ketok. Sell back to them they also wanna ketok?? Last I saw Ah Yong (at MacPherson showroom) advert on SBF, he advert DT300i for $7.5k!! He take in $5k and profit $2.5k!!! Not bad!!

This kind of business I also want to do!!! Don't need to give a damn about customer's aftersales. So shiok!!

Fortunately, my DT125i not much problems =D I don't want to rack up history. But to all fellow Kymco potential buyers out there, please do your market research first.

Would I want to say such downer things about Kymco?? Well, not that I want to, but I have to be frank to potential buyers of Kymco out there.

The above is my ownership experience with Kymco. Please feel free to reply to this post or PM me to know more about my general ownership experience with Motorsports, Kymco.

Thank you.

@topgearalwaysrock, to be fair, what was the mileage of your scooter? Also I remembered you stated here that you got into an accident? Any modification? I am very sure they will take in my bike if I wanna trade in. And of course being a first hand owner will result in a slightly heavier lost. We need to compare apples to apples..... For th record, my friend's DT300i white scooter was taken in by Herbert (low mileage, nil accident etc) immediately and at a price much higher than what was mentioned here - $5000

By your posting here....regardless of truth or not............ any prospective buyer of my bike will always be turned off........

Posted (edited)

Erh, slight accident nia. That time newbie on the road, just passed 2B. Small and light scratches here and there. Yes, I agree that first hand owner suffers the heaviest depreciation, but that's provided Motorsports want to take in my scoot!!! Now they don't even want!!!

The buyer of my scoot has accepted the condition and was willing to pay a good price. Am happy now to rid an obligation as I was saying....

The good points I've shared liao. But at the end of my ownership of the Downtown came the bad points. I think it's only fair that I share this in this forum as well.

Ur recycling n repeating of the same old story is boring. just like small kid who couldnt get the candy his big brother is eating.

anyway if you keep on telling everyone who asked review on kymco. one day you will face lawsuit for deflamation from them. moreover you have no proof of what you are saying now. For benefit of doubt, we heard you. since you are no longer a kymco customer n decided not to be one in the future. do yourselves a favour. Zip it. Go spent more time on ur 400 n learnt to appreciate life.

Help! Help!

I need someone to recommend me a good performance tire. Good as in grip as well as durability. My back tire got punctured again and I am in need to change ti urgently otherwise have to commute to n fro work by our stupid transit network :(

Yeap. Was quite disappointed to see that Xciting 400Ri front design is pretty much the same as Xciting 300Ri. However, since it looks so good, why change it right?? Haha.

2bhp more than Majesty probably ain't gonna make it pull away from the lights any faster. Having upgraded from 15bhp from DT125i to 34bhp on Majesty 400, that's a difference of 19bhp. 2bhp is only a small percentage increase.

The Xciting 400Ri should be able to do at least 23km/L, if not 25km/L to stand out for a 400cc sports-maxi-scooter.

Anything below 23km/L is totally unacceptable to me as I'm getting 21.24km/L and a fellow Majesty rider is getting 23km/L.

i am getting 24+km/L on my 08 model.

^_^Gentle on the wrist though...

I like this cos.. most of the parts are running same as any Jap scooter.... except for engine leh.

Metzeler FeelFree -> Google out JR Pte Ltd. Call them up see if got stock.

Heidenau -> PM Brembo. So far I use Heidenau, it's pretty good! Still not as confident in the wet as Metzeler that said.

Pirelli/ Michellin only for emergency.... Lasting, but average grip even in the dry (forget about wet weather performance. Be prepared to go real slow)

Xciting 300Ri no engine oil filter leh. Haha.

I hope Kymco Taiwan has ironed out all issues pertaining to their engineering Engines department. All the best for their sales, both locally and universally. There is a growing market for maxi/sports-scooter all around the world as cities get populated, people demand convenience of riding (aka. Auto only).

I'm quite heavy on the throttle for my Majesty 400, thus I'm getting 21km/L. If I go easy, should be able to get 23km/L. Hehe.

huhuhu...i still have a problem with my DT200i...although not a big problem but it is very irritated...

As early morning i started the engine..in less 20sec it will shut off the engine..the normal RPM is about 1400-1600.. but before engine shut off the RPM will go high as 2200 and sudden drop to 800-900... then i need to switch off the key for about 1min before start the engine again..until i got 2bar temperature..then the engine is ok and ride as normal...

It is occurred everyday...morning when going out to office..and afternoon going back from office...

Already sent to distributor and check with Kymco diagnose device..and no problem detected...

current mileage is 18300km...just 1year

Hi find a mechanic to check on your valves clearance. It might solve the problem

Posted
Distributor agent have tried using their device... and me also tried manual reset...it doesn't work...

i just follow exactly what manual book said:

SELF DIAGNOSE RESET

1. put side stand up and engine stop switch at RUN

2. turn the key ON position and wait 10secs

3. fully open throttle and wait 10secs

4. release the throttle

TPS/ISC RESET

1. put side stand up and engine stop switch at RUN

2. turn the OFF position

3. fully open throttle

4. turn the key ON position

5. release the throttle after 8secs

6. turn the OFF position

7. turn the key ON position

What will happen if disconnect the battery? Is it can be reset?

Disconnecting the battery will not reset the system. Static reset is limited you need to use a Diagnostic tool to reset the system.

Hey guys, wana know do SG have DT 125i ABS version or isit they dont? And how much is this bike nowdays coz it almost the same like x10.

Hi ahmadhaq, sorry to inform you that we will not be bring in the DT125i ABS due to DT200i is in town

Posted
Anyways, if anyone of your need to change your tires, please do consider Heidenau tires. It's carried by Brembo here (just PM him to check for availability).

Similar performance and price to Metzeler, however, you don't have to wait 2 months unlike JR Pte Ltd (distributor of Metzeler tires here)....

Forget about Dunlop, Shinko, Kenda (carried by MS, which is BS). Recommend to change out of Maxxis stock OEM tires for Kymco when delivered. Forget about using Maxxis.

Have you tried all the tires you name above?? If not please don't comment "Forget about Dunlop, Shinko. Kenda (carried by MS is BS)" We MS did not offended you. If you want to recommend tire to the follow bikes you are welcome but please don't condemn others.
