Ermax windscreen for Downtown. Not available locally, but I think Hodaka Motorworld carries Ermax but for sport bike only. Maybe can pre order from them?

Anyway, very Ex Taiwan $5500 - $6000 which is about SGD $250 - $300

Wah..... I would normally hit around 270 to 280.

What petrol are you using btw bro Parotae? 95?

I'm using the Caltex Techron 98, dun know whether how much difference

as I dun put in 95.

On my SW previously, the difference between the 95 and 98 is quite

obvious, so I only stick to 98 nowadays.

Wah ha ha usual sales man talk. Since you mention suntec then I say. There is this sales guy, I think rosi. I ask him "what is the top speed of maxsym 400" he think very long and ask me what I meant. I say how fast can the scoot go up to the maximum. He says that depends, usually 100km/h. I was like huh, so I thought he did not understand me. So I ask again, super 4 can go top speed about 180km/h or more, this scoot can go how fast? He said depends, usually 90km/h, this is a scooter not super 4 and it's using a special gear so cannot feel the speed. Scooter usually this speed only. So I was like huh, where did this guy came from? So did not try any more technical question. But the price he quoted was correct $13,000. Well for me, after half a year then I can proof otherwise about Kymco quality ha ha ha :D

Hey bro, paiseh ha ha haven't try :p just feel like changing on a lazy sunday. Have the urge to try but can test tomorrow when going to work.

But I did start to check if I installed correctly. It started and idle ok. Placebo effect - seems idling more in rhythm. Ever since you talk about the perfect idling thingy I took the time to observe the rhythm ha ha.

I am getting lonely here, please ask more ha ha.

Sym and Kymco from the web I read are generally quite reliable. Some hiccups here and there are expected. Then again, if you are in Taiwan you are generally safe as spare parts are easily available. Once oversea it a different story. I do not know how well Mah stock their parts, but parts like oil filter and belt should be no problems getting. It's the major one like engine parts. Then again a reliable bike won't be worrying about no spare parts, only if you're intending to ride very long or buy an older bike then spare is important.

So the most important question is which do you like? Assuming that both are reliable.

Then 2nd if things do go wrong like injector fail, will it be change under warranty? Must wait for parts? Or cannibalize from other bikes. Kymco is 1 year unlimited mileage for Downtown. Overseas it's 2 years. Base on that you can tell the quality. Kymco in Europe is number 2 or 3 in sales and Europe countries are strict in protecting consumer. So if your product is lousy or not good enough you can't reach and stay on top in the European market.

That's why Sym are targeting the European market with it's maxsym, even Taiwanese complaint that own country people haven't rode the maxsym, European already owned and rode already.

I am very happy with Kymco Agent Motorsport because I get the feeling that I am taken care of. Once instace is I know that the person (Mr Herbert) selling me the scoot knows alot about scooters and he even told me how the scoot is gonna feel, behave and what are the bad points too (surprisingly). He assures me that if I have any problems just drop by and he will figure something out. Was surprise that it's not just talk only :thumb:

But then again, if you don't own a Kymco and have service and support like Motorsport, there's always sgbikes forum where we act like service staff helping each other out ha ha :D

No bikes are perfect. Give and take. A little here a little there. I am still waiting for maxsym 400 local rider's review. Although it's an unfair comparison, I am curious about a head to head comparison just for fun as Downtown is the only contender in almost matching the Maxi class.

So far what I've hear locally is

Downtown is faster till 80km/h-100km/h as compared to Silverwing 400 due to heaveir body. After 100km/h silver wing is faster as it's a twin cylinder.

I'm also thinking of what bike to buy for 2A liao..... Haha. That's end YR 2012 though.

Anyways, DT and SW shouldn't be compared with each other IMO: SW has 400cc and 600cc versions, whereas DT has a range from 125cc, 205cc and 299cc.

Different class of scooters leah.

Well, I'll be waiting for the new 2012 Xciting. From the pictures Herbert took, the front looks like the DT. Haha.

Xciting 400 is having Xciting head leh, if not it's Downtown 400 Liao :D

Comparison of silverwing and downtown are being compared by ex silverwing riders who owned silverwing or still owns one are using silverwing as a gauge to review it. Though not fair, if downtown wins in some points then it's worth a look :D

Hopefully, the Xciting 400 will also spot the new looks of YR2012 like the smaller cc variants, and not just based on the current Xciting 300Ri.

They have to I guess, cause the side panel not appealing at all, spoil the whole outlook. If not for the cc and the ugly side body Panel, I would have gotten the Xciting.

The head is perfect for me already, super chio and fierce. Ha ha my partner says look like an insect head. Except for the storage.

Posted

Just went to see the SYM 400 at Suntec. I will still choose the Downtown over here. Not very nice lah. The storage so smalll and funny lay out.. Underseat only 1 helmet, body very plastic feel.

Some good points.

Got USB poer charger, good for iPhone. Retractable footpeg, nice dashboard. That's abt all.

The seating height is similar to Downtown, likewise for leg space, I was expecting like SW but nope.

Posted

Yup. SYM is miles backwards in terms of build quality. Kymco does a much better job in this aspect.

First time I rode in the heavy rain just now. Super stable even at 80kph!

I hope the new Xciting will have a larger storage space under the seat though. Will miss the DT's one should I upgrade next year.

Just rode to work and back. Ha ha no difference. Idling seems more silent and stable. Idling use to be around 1600rpm, now after a while can idle at 1500rpm. Is it all the while like this?

Can't wait to put in full synthetic oil to see how it will change the performance of the bike.

Bro Parotae, are you planning to do the clutch swap they mention on the Taiwan forum?

It was either that or was thinking of changing to the Malossi ones later on.

For me, I'm fine with the bike after it is running. Just don't enjoy the moving off part and

how the clutch perform at low speed.
