Wah lau née ann poly so near my place.

Am considering malossi option.

$44 for front and rear is a very good price IMO, considering SBS is already $20.

Let me think. But I don't know if it will eat the rotor disc or not.

And there's the saying, if very eat then disc will wear. If not so eat then lesser wear. If want eat must expect wear. Wear I don't mind, I just want even Swee Swee wear.

Brake discs are hardly changed isn't it?

Would be quite funny if it were to be replaced faster than the brake pads. Haha.

icic. Just now saw the Isumi have shiny metal bits so i didn't buy. Those i bought before is brown and i find it good enough just that it squeal, i don't mind the squeal as it make others notice you in the nicer way not like loud exhaust.

Just a thought only lah, may not change. Wait till it arrived. Then it won't be the 2 of us, it's the 3 of us ha ha.

Brake disc seldom change yes, provided they wear evenly and smoothly. If it's uneven, waving from out side in or vice versa on the rotor disc, then a newly install brake pads will take quite a bit of time to bed into the uneven disc. During these period, the brake pads contact to the rotor are very little depending on the severity of unevenness. Instead of 100% contact with a flat rotor, the uneven contact is less than 100%.

No need me to tell you that anything less than 100% on brakes effectiveness is no joke. I know, cause i've been there ha ha. After changing brake pads i was like, huh how come have to brake harder with new pads. So thinking that maybe, need to break-in. After a few days still no improvement, so i took out the pads to see if i fitted wrongly only to find that the contact surface on the pads is uneven with lines. Those that touch the disc are scored, while those that did not touch remain new. Something like that you get the idea. So if you bed in the pads like this, it's gonna wear this way - unevenly.

Skimming is not advisable as the rotor is already so thin. Skim some more like tissue prata liao.

Well, afterall, braking is a form of friction, and this friction/ force has to go somewhere.

Most of it is concentrated on the brake pads, though scratches or wear marks can be seen on the discs.

But still, the focus should be on the brake pads rather than the brake discs. Haha.

Will give Malossi a shot. =)

If you are getting the Malossi brake pads, though not necessary but if you want a slightly (or maybe better than slightly) better braking, do check with Desmond how many types there are. On the net i saw in red then another site in gold. Don't know if there is a difference in performance.

If the disc is uneven the brake pads cannot contact 100%

Since your scoot is new, there will be no uneven contact issue ;)

Come to think of it, wait the brake too jiak can also skid. So you must go secret training liao.

Just found out that there are a number of brands of brake pads can be use for Downtown. When i saw the isumi brake pads package on the back for downtown. I saw a few bikes that uses the same pads. So can buy the same pads for cheaper or in a better quality. The kymco one i find very rough.

Can't remember clearly

Front

like sym and honda.

rear

like sym evo 200

just sharing what i saw even though it's not even helpful ha ha :p

Yeap. Quite a bit of brands out there, as aftermarket brake pads fitting.

If I'm correct to say, brake pads are becoming standard size these days. haha.

What concern me is Kymco pads. My scoot only 3000km, no infact i've already notice the uneven wear earlier.

The pads come from don't know which company.

I don't want to buy another brand from the same manufacturer as Kymco. Problem is, i can't buy a bunch and try them can I?

One wrong pads and there goes the rotor. Carborn Lorraine i sure won't try again. Felt rough, eats rough, too late.

Hi @parotae,

Any chance you can give us the reference number for the malossi break pads for our DT300? both front and rear

Posted
No no. I mean anybody has ever used Malossi products. Haha!

Went down to their shop just now.

Gotta wait till end Feb for the shipment to arrive.

Brake pads are $44 for both front and rear, and I've also asked on the variator [they only have variator for DT125i], which costs $220.

Don't know if I should go for the variator though.

Be warned that the soft compound wears really fast. But grip is superb though. Haha.
