Eh guys! Problem man! Okay. This is what happened.

This morning i tried to start the bike. Electric start. Cannot. Kick start. Cannot. I choke. Engine can start. Then when i leave it idle, the rpm from 1.3 go to 1 then engine stop. I try to whack the throttle a bit. Okay, okay... then 30 secs to 1 min, engine stop. I tried for 20 mins. The engine just stopped. Then i gonna be late i left my bike and went to work.

At work, my colleugues say my bike cold. But i dont think so. First time so hard to start the bike. So i took half day leave go back to my precious. The tried starting her up again. This time i took slightly longer slowly maintain the throttle so that it will be at least 1.5. Warmed it up for 5 mins or so. Then i straight away rush to bike shop. At the shop my mech try to start the bike, then can start but after 10 seconds like that. He say nothing wrong. But he turned off headlight. Normally when i turn on bike i leave the light to the position light not the full headlight. But i told him i just warmed it up already. So he kept saying that bike was cold. So okay la then i just ride back home normally, go around my place here and there.

Then i realised that my rpm is no longer at 1.3-1.5. Now at idle or traffic light, it is now at 2. The sometimes it would creep to 3 then the engine so noisy. The vibration also can feel. Now the engine can turn on but not as strong as when i first got it and yesterday night i start no problem. What could be the problem here?

EDIT: And the "wind" coming from my exhaust pipe is cool. Or rather should i say COLD. And this is after 15mins of street riding. What's up? Is this a case of "Noob's first cold engine?"

Update: Also i cannot turn on the bike with the headlights on. I have so turn it on with the light switch off or to position light, alternating between the two. What's up with my bike? It starts differently now but when riding it feels the same. And the idle rpm goes up to 3 if i switch to neutral but when i switch to gear 1 when stationary, it drops. What is the matter?

Guys. I just don't get it. The bike is so hard to turn on 3 hours after riding. I have to do many things like play with the lights and pull in my clutch for it to turn on. What is wrong with my bike?

Hahhahahaa... looks like the fuel air mixture is not rich enough, i also have that issue when cold starting especially when the weather just rain finish in the morning.. brrrrr cold.

Go to the right hand side of your bike, look at the carb (the small thingy next to your engine) and there should be a cross head screw.. u turn either left or right to decrease/increase engine idling RPM.

The mech probably help u increase the idling RPM thats why you ride your RPM shoot till 2. personally i adjusted it to have 1.5k RPM idling when engine is warm. You have to start the engine and adjust on the fly to see the idle speed, best if its already warm.

Morning usually you just throttle till 5k RPM for half a minute then i usually WHACK the engine... open and close the throttle till red zone until the carbon comes out of my exhaust and i can hear the engine straining!!! Confirm the engine will be warm already! :thumb::thumb::thumb:

If u are really worried about your blue beast... call me down and i check it out for u..

Yo bro thanks man! But i didnt see the mech tune anything. No screwdriver or anything. I just see him peer to the right side of my carb then never do anything. Just play with choke abit on off and try to start. And now very hard to start liao. Must play play with my lights and clutch to turn it on. Normally i just electric start within 2 seconds engine turn on. Yesterday if i turn off engine for a while then turn back on again, the engine very strong. Now i do that, hard to get it to turn on but takes less time than it is cold. All this suddenly happen in 1 night. Why ah?

Many reasons... im speaking from experience here, same thing happened to me but i rectified the problem everytime..

Just to share with you:

  • Battery flat

  • Battery terminal got the deposit of calcium (i dono la the white stuff... must open your side panel and use screwdriver to scrape away)

  • Wiring loose

  • Battery old.. going going gone kee chia soon, mine already kee chia, don ride one day cannot start

  • Your choke forgot to close

  • Engine cold!! Brrrr!! Nowadays keep rain... Brrrr!! Poor blue beast out in the rain also feel cold

  • Fuel air mixture not rich enough, but then again that's what the choke is for (i never needed to use it at all)

  • Use the SSDC method, open throttle SLIGHTLY and press the starter

  • Usually if u press starter dont even have the cranking sound that means is wiring/battery/ or god forbid.. magneto gone case already

All this can tell u, but i feel that show you better... i hands on so much with my YBR but till today i'm still learning more about it!! :cheeky::angel:

    -->New battery

  • Battery terminal got the deposit of calcium (i dono la the white stuff...
    -->New battery
must open your side panel and use screwdriver to scrape away)

  • Wiring loose
-->Hmm... Last night i open my side panel cover to just see see what's inside. After i happy i see already i put back properly and start the bike again. Very strong the starting like when i first got it as usual.

  • Battery old.. going going gone kee chia soon, mine already kee chia, don ride one day cannot start

  • Your choke forgot to close
-->Close already bro. But how to use ah? My mech say on choke then on engine then close choke. My other friends some say on choke, kick start 10 times, then close choke, turn on bike then kick to start. Not sure which method better.

  • Engine cold!! Brrrr!! Nowadays keep rain... Brrrr!! Poor blue beast out in the rain also feel cold
-->My bike cold weather can start easily. Why kenna today?

  • Fuel air mixture not rich enough, but then again that's what the choke is for (i never needed to use it at all)
-->Really wanna try to retune my carb. Don't know why suddenly my rpm so high at traffic light my hands aching. But weird if i stay neutral, rpm go up to 3. But once i change gear 1 stationary clutch in, it will go down to 2.

  • Use the SSDC method, open throttle SLIGHTLY and press the starter
    -->Sometimes work, sometimes never work.

  • Usually if u press starter dont even have the cranking sound that means is wiring/battery/ or god forbid.. magneto gone case already
-->The cranking sound very loud. Louder than my engine itself.

All this can tell u, but i feel that show you better... i hands on so much with my YBR but till today i'm still learning more about it!! :cheeky::angel:

Bro. I don't want to trouble you ah bro. When i arrived at work, i explained to my Colleague the problem. He told me its normal but about the rpm thing, he ask me to ride normally first. If it doesnt go down he will tune my carb for me. I think just adjust the carb screw. Tomorrow i will let him take a look at it and adjust again. By the way, does he need any equipment like a tuner or what, or can he just use a screwdriver and adjust the carb settings. My Colleague has ridden bikes for quite some time now. From an RX-K to a Haya, he almost rode them all.

EDIT: Yeah one more thing, when i was riding, then got traffic light, i put my bike in neutral and was in the process of letting go my clutch. As i was gonna let go the whole thing, i felt my bike and my engine gonna stall i faster pull back and slowly let got, taking about 5 seconds. Then my engine didnt stall. But my RPM was rather high nearly touching 3. Sometimes i have to switch to gear 1 back again, and slowly let go my clutch to biting point, let the rpm go down then it will remain low. From 1.5 then it would slowly climb back to 2. Why is this so?

Aiya turn one screw only....wahhahaha, its not that hard... yah let him fiddle with it ba..

Congrats, you have found what is called as "false neutral" neutral light on but first gear is still engaged... nothing to fret about, just kick up again, release half clutch let the gear engage and find neutral again... haha.. it happens la.. :cheeky:

Own this YBR125 before. Sold off in two months. This bike is very fuel efficient but has a starting problem. When it rains, the water can sip into the side covers and damage spark plug. Electric start and Kick start also cannot work. Side cover prone to tear/damage easily. Change new one but damage by mechanic few weeks later. Change new battery, spark plug couple of times. My opinion is the construction is lousy, even the keyhole has no cover. After a few times, giving me problems in rain I push to bike shop and lost quite a lot of money. Some bike shop even do not want say it's made in China and quality inferior.

Wah,,,so much problem.?i was trying to introduce it to my uncle who like the bike due to the chrome pipe rather than the CBF Black exzos pipe...since like that might just tell him to buy the cbf instead.

Wah! False neutral! Scary sia! Haha. Joking bro. Its no biggie anyway. But one thing for sure is that when i kick to neutral, i can feel the bike SLIGHTLY, a little only, creeping forward. I can stop with my left toes la, but if i let go the bike will slowly but surely creep forward. This happens sometimes only. To solve this i have to kick gear down and up again, then gone. Oh one more thing, when i find my idle rev too high, i will gear 1 and realease to biting point to bring down the rpm. Then clutch in fully again. Then it wont be so high. Is this advisable?

EDIT: Also, i met with my better half's dad. He is old school uncle rider. He suspect my carb need tuning. But he say must tune properly. If my idle speed to low, then wanna start bike will be difficult. Leave it, got the problem but bike can start. He say better to be high than low so bike can start in the morning. But he say rpm 3 at idle traffic light is way too high. Stress man. Oh yeah, on the way back got one nerdy girl rider on a wave talk to me. So cute sia she. 19 year old "Uncle" on YBR also can catch her attention. :cheeky:

I agree with you!! My keyhole the whole key DROP OUT SIA!! AHhahhaha, and the side paneling all the pegs broke, but i solved the problem, put plastic bag over the battery, and drill a hole in the side panel and install a screw and nut to secure it!! Very easily rectified!!:cheeky:

Again i say it again, TUNE CARB = TURN THAT SMALL SCREW ON YOUR CARB ONLY!!! SO EASSSSSSSSSSYYYYYY!!!!. Even a three year old kid can do it!! HAhahaa, the longer you wait to do it, the higher RPM you will have lo!! = Eat more petrol! Just try to fiddle around with it, turn clockwise or anti clockwise only while the engine is idling!!

QUITE EASILY DONE!!

Dude... i used to wear my Yamaha racing padded jacket and Blue fierce full face on the YBR and i ALWAYS get curious stares all over... I don't care, i happy can already... AHhahaa. The only reason why i'm selling this bike cos i have 3 bikes already!! Cannot take care of so many... If anyone wants my CBR i sell it lah!! Continue ride my BLUE BEAST YBR!! I love her so much!! My parents have never been ok with me riding, never have, never will. That's why i go for sessions such as HOV and buy equipment such as armoured jackets to keep me alive on the road for as long as possible.

And needless to say, i'm old enough to make my own decisons, i don't listen to them ALL of the time.. haha!

You sold your blue beast? Aww... Make sure the NSF tke care of the bike hor. Anyway today after work i go bike shop ah. Buay tahan. Explained to mech everything. He say leave the bike there, tomorrow morning he try to start and rectify the problem. Then i also ask him about how much for new clutch plate. He say $60. Is it supposed to be at that price?

Some of colleagues say better for me to change to a new clutch plate because the bike have been travelling for quite far already. Sommore if i am not wrong the inner mechanism got no lubricant. Sigh. But i still love my bike. Low fuel consumption. Oh yeah, one more thing. If i put V-Power into YBR engine, no problem right? Engine won't spoil?

your head has been chopped clean off from your neck... why u never consult us first!!?? nvm... pay school fees to bike tiam...

Change clutch plate = open engine = drain EO = $10+$20 = $30. Workmanship another $30... at least thats how i justify your $60 price.

I say! V power... my bike drank 95 and she was very happy already... u V power later wont spoil, but the bike become "spoiled" by your sayang...

I've thought of rectifying that before like what you did.

Like putting some leather covering inside the side paneling to protect the

battery and spark plug and screw the panels. But finally decided better to give up and try another bike cause lazy and not enough power when going uphill 45deg like full throttle and struggling.

You took a lot of trouble to rectify it and new buyer sure save the pain.

Ups for your sales. Saw Youtube some fellows used for cross country.

I kind of miss the Fuel Consumption now (45-50km/Litre), not many bikes have that.

HAhhaa.. no la, sell to people must make nicely first la... i just waiting for the value of pulsar 200 to drop, then i can buy it for cheep cheep good good!! Or just get a uncle CBF150 also can... no market for secondhand for those models yet.. wait another year or so... Pulsar alot of people selling already, but price is not right.... IMO.

Or another way is to wait till class 2B is upgraded to lower end "mid range" to 250cc then can take out a CBX250 Twister already.... whichever comes sooner lah!! :cheeky:

HAhhaa.. no la, sell to people must make nicely first la... i just waiting for the value of pulsar 200 to drop, then i can buy it for cheep cheep good good!!

:cheeky:

Hope that every road user can practise courtesy and reduce the danger of bikers :thumb:

most of the bikes here even some sports bikes put a box behind. So become uncle look.

I went to Phuket recently, and observe all the bikes no box. It's not cool to put a box behind in Thailand. I decide to get a second sports bike soon without box.

Wonder why in Thailand they mainly use Kup and the police riding phantom?
