1) I intend to buy a 2nd hand bike from a private owner .

So , these are my below steps ?

1) Photocopy his LogCard and buy insurance from NTUC ? No need his other documents ? Seller no need to be around ?

2) After buy insurance , meet Seller at LTA to t/over .

I need to pay for the transfer fee as well as road tax ?

3) After signing the transfer fee, It means tat I am the rightful owner ?

Eg: 22/3/2009 at 1500hrs, I sign the transfer at LTA , however on the same day earlier at 0900hrs, seller beat red light , will the summon come to me since I take over the bike on that day ?

4) Other than this , any other matter to take note or caution ?

when i bought over my bike this is what i did...

1) went straight to ntuc at amk hub, just state bike number, give my license n IC then pay for the insurance. thats all. they didnt ask for log card whatsoever. seller no nd to be there and he wasnt there.

2) met seller at LTA at sin ming, took q number, show the person my insurance, give both the IC, pay transfer fee and done. road tax if still have, u wanna renew onot is up to u. bike is then officially mine.

3) thats all, happy happy and ride safe. :)

1. call ntuc and tell them u wanna buy bike insurance. u jus need his bike num and the rest r ur own personal particulars.

2. yes, u'll need to pay transfer fee, road tax is needed if gng to expire. arrangement on who's paying it is between u and seller

3. yes, the bike is transferred to u on the spot. i think u dnt need to consider so much, can explain to TP if such thing happens.

4. have u went to onemotoring website? lots of things to see

1. No need logcard...just go to NTUC and tell them U want to buy bike insurance...they will just need the bike plate number and all the details will be shown on their computer screen...if U feel insecure...U can go to onemotoring website and do a search and printout...also using the bike plate number.

2. Fees to be paid are decided among buyer and seller....usually buyer will pay transfer fee and road tax if applicable.

3. After doing the LTA paperwork, yes U are legally the owner of the bike.

For that red light scenario...U can always write in to TP about U taking over the bike on that day at what time.Nowadays all computerised liao....got date and time stamp....cannot run one...

but ya...like what Demon said...doesnt hurt to run a check on the MY side too.

Always ride safely and defensively.

No requirements for any documentations. The old Log Cards printed by LTA no more. All online ones. With the bike registration number, you will be able to make the purchase.

As for who to pay the transfer fees, this is the agreement between you and the seller. Road tax only needs to be renewed if it is expiring.

After the transfer procedure at LTA, you will be the rightful owner of the bike.

Eg: 22/3/2009 at 1500hrs, I sign the transfer at LTA , however on the same day earlier at 0900hrs, seller beat red light , will the summon come to me since I take over the bike on that day ?

LTA has the records on the date/time of the transfer. If you receive the summon, and notice that the time of the offence was before the transfer, you can write in to the relevant authorities to inform them.

4) Other than this , any other matter to take note or caution ?

i wan to buy my friend bike. he the 2nd owner, but the first owner has just passed away. i ask the lta, they say:

1) need the family member to engage a lawyer for letter to transfer of ownership (is it expensive? estimate?)

2) bring the letter to lta to approve( how long will it take? if during the process, can i ride the bike?)

or is there any suggestion for mie to encounter this problem?
