i noticed that after letting my bike idle for awhile with all the loads off. e voltage slowly increases to 14V. however while riding with load off i get 14.4V. and with loads on i get 13.1V. at the traffic light i get idling ard 11.7V. =/ i feel so confused

u need to noe where is the voltmeter tapping on the wire..

then u use the mulitmeter and test on the exact location as the voltmeter..

if the reading is diff, time to invest on a better voltmeter..

if the reading is the same, then is the tapping point source location need to adjust..

okay i get what you mean. in anycase, is there any good voltmeter you would recommend? currently the one i'm using is the one i bought from keong in sbf. it's almost 2yrs old.

adjust would mean relocate e tapping source or make sure it's tapping correctly? if i'm not wrong it's tapping on e brake light thing

Hi Next, welcome.

you can try pirelli diablo tyre. sshiiok when cornering. stick well.. psi is 33 and 36. usually i pump 34 and 37 coz the shell pump not that accurate..

brake light is the furthest point of the wire harness..

sure there is slight fall in voltage..

try to tap at other location or ensure the current point is secured well..

would it be much accurate if i tap it at the ignition point?

or any other advisable point to tap on?

ya.u can tap the ign wire..

but better put a fuse across the voltmeter,as to protect the bike harness and ign in case the voltmeter go crazy..

the quick and easy method is slot the wire of the voltmeter into the ign slot of the fuse box.

okay i'll get the the shop to try. hopefully my voltmeter is alright. otherwise which voltmeter is recommended?

like you said there's an ignition slot at the fuse box. does it already comes with a fuse? or we still need to put a fuse in it? will there be any space for an addition fuse for the voltmeter connected to the ign?

hi guys.

i know this topic i'm gonna bring up has been discussed quite a number of times.

i really wish to clarify my doubts.

i just changed my coil and rectifier just now.

however, when my bike was left to idle my voltmeter shows 12V exactly while the mechanic's voltmeter stated at 12.8V.

when he revs with the lights all off except for my brake lights which are switched on, his voltmeter shows 14.6-14.8V. whereas mine, shows up to 13.3V.

and with the lights on, the same exact voltage shows.

is there smth wrong with my wiring? (i changed it about 2-3months ago)

or it's just my voltmeter which is showing some problems of inaccuracy. (need to be changed?)

if you asked regarding my voltmeter wiring, i went to fx110 few months back. he did the wiring of voltmeter for me. i trust him.

i'm just pretty confused. though i know the bike is charging at the correct state but it makes me feel alil gaowei to see my voltmeter not responding to what the bike is showing. =/

may I know if the coil is really a brand new or second hand item ?

the accuracy of the voltmeter is varies. for me, the best way to measure the voltage reading is by using multimeter.

and, please check your headlight bulbs. normally we use H4 60/55W bulb which sucks more power than the OEM H4 35/55W bulbs. during idle, the coil could not catch up with the 'extra load' from the headlights, thus making it undercharging.

personally, U don't have to worry too much coz anything >12 V and

u can make use of the fuse that is existing over there.. that y i use is quick and fast way..

voltmeter tend to have incorrect reading unless u get those real gd ones that cost hundreds of bucks..

the addition fuse i mention is place between the tap point and the voltmeter.

To get a gd and neat connection, u can get a fuse holder at Sim Lim tower and diy yrself..

what irritates me is when i'm riding the voltage show 13.1V which is similar to exactly e voltage i saw beforr changing the coil. >.

yeap i'll check the bulb. anyway Aalex, fuse holder. any size limitation? i'd really wanna diy myself. but i'll need guidance and e tools.

u go sim lim tower and ask the ppl over in the shop..

u say u want fuse holder to hold the 2 legged fuse(the one we use for bike).

the tools are rather simple. u juz need a clamp tool to clamp the wire at the ends.

i will be going to regina to get my replacement armour for my armour jacket this sat..

maybe can meet up and show u the things required.
